Pacific Power Prepares Major for Weekend Storm

Government Recovers Marine Pilot Missing In Action From WWII

Among other forensic identification tools and circumstantial evidence, scientists from JPAC used dental comparisons in the identification of McCown's remains.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Marine F-4U Corsair The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office (DPMO) announced today that the remains of a U.S. serviceman, missing in action from World War II, have been identified and will be returned to his family for burial with full military honors.

He is Maj. Marion R. McCown Jr., U.S. Marine Corps, of Charleston, S.C. He will be buried on January 18th in Charleston.

Former Assistant Football Coach Jerry Long Dies

Jerry Long spent over a decade in athletic administration prior to retiring in 1990, working in the areas of fundraising, event management and booster club development.

(LOS ANGELES) - Former OSU Coach Jerry Long Jerry Long, assistant football coach for Ted Ogdahl from 1955-1960, died Wednesday at the age of 79. Coach Long served as an assistant football coach at Oregon State and UCLA and also spent over a decade in athletic administration at UCLA. Long, who had been in a hospice for several months, died from a heart attack with his wife Dorothy at his side.

Jerry Long played football at Oregon State, earning three letters as a guard and graduating in 1950. After five years as a high school coach, he spent six years as an assistant at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.

Bend Man Dies in Crash on Icy Oregon Highway

Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 97 north of Bend

(BEND, Ore.) - Fatal Crash near Bend, Oregon Police say a Bend-area man died Thursday morning when the vehicle he was driving slid off Highway 97 about three miles north of Bend and rolled onto its top.

The victim was not using safety restraints investigators say, and was partially ejected. A passenger who was using safety restraints was not injured.

Schrader Submits Resignation to Secretary of State

Schrader was re-elected to serve Senate District 20 in 2006 after serving one term prior in the Senate and three terms in the Oregon State House of Representatives.

“I’ve made my home and operated my business in this district for over twenty years,” said Schrader, who owns a working farm in Canby and operates the Clackamas County Veterinary Clinic in Clackamas.
