Deputy Says Woman Tried to Take His Gun in Multnomah Courthouse

Deputies say it appears that the Ms. Hawkins has some mental disorders.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - 42-year old Alicia R. Hawkins Nobody was hurt today in a Portland courthouse when a woman reportedly tried to pull the gun out of the holster of a passing deputy.

It would be fair to say that Multnomah County deputies had their fill of unexpected gun incidents Tuesday. Around 10:00 AM, a pair of deputies serving an eviction notice on an apartment dweller say they were surprised when he pulled out a gun. The other incident today involved the deputy actually having to wrestle the woman's hand off the gun.

People with Disabilities Still Have Time to File for Rebate Payment

Though the tax deadline has passed — those who don’t normally file a return have until Oct. 15 to file for stimulus payment; unclaimed rebates also may be claimed in 2009.

Man Reports Being Robbed at Gunpoint in His Home

The suspects wore masks but identified each other by name.

(COLTON, Ore.) - robbery investigation graphic Investigators in Clackamas County say 23-year old Victor Ryan Proffitt of Colton, was robbed at gunpoint early Tuesday at approximately 2:00 AM, when three, masked male suspects forced entry into his residence while demanding money at gunpoint.

Man Arrested in Salem for Swiping Independence Church Bus

The man is suspected of stealing a church bus and possessing methamphetamine.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem Police say an alert citizen spotted a suspicious person sitting in a car in an apartment complex in the 800 blk of 25th St SE and called police shortly before 3:00 AM this morning.

Officers responded and contacted a man from Independence. Steve Birr with Salem Police says the man gave a false name and was arrested for Giving False Information. "In plain view in the vehicle were bank deposit bags. Located inside the vehicle were checks and other items stolen from the First Baptist Church, 1505 Monmouth St, Independence," Birr said.

Body Discovered by Urchin Divers in Depoe Bay Identified

The body turned out to be that of a local man who probably took his own life.

(DEPOE BAY, Ore.) - The body of a man found last Saturday in the Pacific Ocean south of Rocky Creek State Scenic Viewpoint in Lincoln County has been positively identified as 54-year old Larry Allen Mott of Depoe Bay.

Mr. Mott was originally reported to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office as a missing/endangered person on May 28th as he had apparent suicidal tendencies. There are no signs of foul play, investigators with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office report.

New City Council Member for Stayton- Maybe!

Councilors present: Scott Vigil, Steve Frank, Mayor Virginia Honeywell, Don Walters and Tim Grimes.

(STAYTON, Ore.) - The first order of business at this week's Stayton City Council meeting was the appointment of Jack Fiske to the vacant city council seat. This seat became available last month when Don Koenig resigned for health reasons.

Other items of discussion included a proposed community cable television station and questions over why a television camera was brought to the meeting.

A fairly new sport, kiteboarding becomes a main attraction on the Oregon Coast.

(LINCOLN CITY, Ore.) - Kiteboarding in Lincoln City, Oregon The Nelscott Kiteboard Rodeo concluded Sunday with a 'no go' in the freestyle competition scheduled for the Siletz Bay due to the lack of adequate wind. Saturday's scheduled waveriding competition turned into a beach party-barbecue waiting for the 12-15 mph threshold to be reached which it never did.

Friday however was another story as the contest director Steve Gunn finally called the 'Downwinder' a go at about 4:00 PM.
