Police Say Renter Pulled Pistol on Deputies Serving Eviction Notice

The man was taken to Portland Adventist Hospital.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - An Oregon man reportedly pulled a gun on deputies serving an eviction notice this morning and then turned suicidal. It is a sad story and the way it developed was called an unusual turn of events.

Deputies in Multnomah County Sheriff's Office were serving an eviction around 10:00 AM at the Mountain View Apartments on SE Division Street when 62-year old Kenneth F. Danneman pulled a gun out from his rear pocket, according to reports.

OSU Bookstore Online Security Breach Under Investigation

OSU says their Bookstore has hired an outside agency to help with its own investigation of the security breach.

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - Oregon State Police say they are investigating the theft of personal information from as many as 4,700 online customers of the OSU Bookstore who used credit cards to purchase items.

In March of this year, OSP began investigation into a report that approximately 30 OSU Bookstore customers' personal information may have been compromised following online orders.

Oregon Average Surpasses $4 a Gallon, Remaining Above National Average

The national average for regular unleaded has set record highs on 26 of the past 27 days, but now seems to be stalling at just under $4 per gallon. Here in Oregon, we have crossed the $4 threshold, and, in fact, all of our measured areas are several cents above that mark.

"Monday's average was the same as Sunday's, which was the first time since May 7th that the price didn't go up overnight." Marie Dodds with AAA said.

Oregon Couple Laid to Rest After Tragic Motorcycle Crash (VIDEO)

Those who knew and loved them say they will be sorely missed.

(SPRINGFIELD, Ore.) - Over 100 motorcycle riders showed up this week to pay their respects to a couple that died as a result of a car versus motorcycle crash on the Oregon coast May 17th.

The man riding the bike, Robert Ellis Shimp, was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was 63-years old. Robert survived for several days but ultimately died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. His wife, Nancy Ann Shimp who was 75, died at the scene.

Scientists Continue to Sign Petition Opposed to Global Warming

Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine says a "flood of Scientists oppose what they describe as, "Global Warming Alarmism."

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - A highly animated George Gilder speaks during an OISM presentation. As the Senate prepares for floor debate on global warming legislation, the list of scientist signatories to the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine's petition against global warming alarmism is growing by about 35 signatures every day, announced OISM's Art Robinson.

On May 19th 2008, OISM announced that over 31,000 scientists, including more than 9,000 with Ph.D.s, signed a petition that states, "... There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane or other greenhouse gases is causing, or will cause in the future, catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate..."

White City Company Pleads Guilty to Two Felony Counts in Jackson County Circuit Court

Panel Products to pay $100,000, receives 18 month probation.

(WHITE CITY, Ore.) - Justice Building in Jackson County, Oregon The Jackson County Circuit Court sentenced Panel Products, LLC, owner and operator of a plywood mill in White City, to pay $100,000 in restitution and 18 months probation for felonies involving supplying false information to an agency.

The sentence of $100,000 is the maximum monetary penalty allowed under law for the two Class C felony counts against a corporation. The ruling was issued May 23rd.

Battleground Soldier Killed Fighting in Afghanistan

A 19-year old Battleground soldier is among Army Casualties reported in Afghanistan.

(BAGHDAD, Iraq) - Image from Andrew Shields` MySpace page The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. One of the soldiers is from Washington state.

Government sources report that they died May 31st in Jalalabad City, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when their vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.

UN Nuclear Watchdog Chief Sends Team to Syria

Last week by former President Jimmy Carter revealed Israel's possession of at least 150 undeclared nuclear weapons.

(GENEVA) - The head of the UN's atomic watchdog announced today that he is sending a team to visit Syria this month after expressing regret that his agency had not received information sooner alleging that a Syrian installation destroyed by Israel last year was a nuclear reactor.

The IAEA received that information – which claimed that the destroyed Syrian facility was not yet operational and had not yet been introduced to nuclear material – from the U.S. in April.
