Happy Valley Man Charged with Alleged Sexual Abuse Of A Child

Investigators say the suspect was a long time friend of the victim's family and well acquainted with the 5-year old reported victim in this case.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - 47-year old Douglas Alfred Feller of Happy Valley, Oregon A Happy Valley man is in custody over allegations of the sexual abuse of a five-year old child. Jim Strovink with the Clackamas Sheriff's Office says the investigation began in February, 2008

That is when members of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Child Abuse Team (CAT) responded to an address in Happy Valley, over a report concerning a 5-year old child who was disclosing information about alleged sexual abuse.

Senate Approves County Payments Extension

Wyden Comments on Pending House Vote.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Voting 75 to 22, the U.S. Senate approved an amendment to the Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2008 (HR.2642) that included a one-year $400 million extension of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self Determination Act.

“Once again an overwhelming majority of the Senate voted to keep our rural schools and communities afloat,” said Wyden. “Today’s vote sends a strong message to both the House and the White House that funding county payments is a critical national emergency.”

Police Identify 24-Year Old Woman as Homicide Victim

They're seeking any information regarding the whereabouts and activities of Jessica Marie Long in the days and hours preceding her murder.

(SALEM, Ore.) - 24-year old Jessica Marie Long Marion County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive person in the roadway approximately half of a mile east of State Highway 214 between Woodburn and Mt. Angel in Marion County, Oregon Wednesday night at 10:00 PM.

The deceased female has been identified as 24-year old Jessica Marie Long. She reportedly died from a gunshot.

(YANGON, Myanmar) - Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon (right) comforting children at a tent camp housing survivors of Cyclone Nargis Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has now seen the devastation in Myanmar left by Cyclone Nargis, which has killed tens of thousands of people and uprooted the lives of 2.4 million others since it struck the country earlier this month.

He visited the makeshift Kyondah relief camp where many women and small children who have lost their homes and family members have taken shelter.

Missing Children's Day also highlights the need for child safety education.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski again joined child safety advocates around the country in recognizing National Missing Children's Day, an annual reminder first proclaimed in 1983 by President Ronald Reagan that everyone can play a part in bringing a missing child home and that child protection must be a national priority.

Governor Kulongoski signed a proclamation announcing May 25th, 2008 as Missing Childrens' Awareness Day in Oregon.
