Flare Up at Stayton City Council Meeting

Politics in a small Oregon community get heated, but end in resolve.

(STAYTON, Ore.) - People arriving at a Stayton City Council work session last night found that the air conditioning was not working, so with 88 degree temperature outside and inside, the meeting was moved to the air conditioned city hall.

The heat of the day carried over as the mayor and councilors went over 21 applications for their city administrator position, but the discussion led to the meeting getting out of control and the question came up about who was running it.

Police Believe Man Drowned While Trying to Rescue Another Person

Active search continues for a possible drowning victim on the Little North Fork River.

(LYONS, Ore.) - Little North Fork River Marion County deputies and Stayton Fire District crews responded to the Salmon Falls park located on the Little North Fork River in Lyons, Oregon, on a report of a possible drowning victim. Deputies and fire officials arrived on the scene and began a visual search of the river.

Commander Jason Myers with the Marion County Sheriff's Office, says deputies and fire officials arrived on the scene around 4:45 PM and began a visual search of the river.

Oregon City Police Officer Saves Mother Trapped Under Boat Trailer

Nothing like being in the right place at the right time.

(OREGON CITY) - Saving the day An incident in Oregon City Thursday involving an injured mother and her small child could have gone a couple of different ways, but it ended in the survival of both, thanks to Oregon City Police Officer Doug Diller.

Around 4:42 PM Thursday, 27-year old Carman Cruz of Sherwood and her two-year old son were struck by a boat and trailer being backed into the water on the boat ramp at Clackamette Park in Oregon City.

Three Men Rescued on North Santiam River

Two of the men suffered scratches and bruises from the river debris while they were in the water.

(JEFFERSON, Ore. ) - Linn County Sheriff Three men were rescued yesterday by the Jefferson Fire Department's Water Rescue Team after their kayaks tipped on the North Santiam River east of Jefferson.

The three individuals, 24-year-old James Fields of Albany, 21-year-old Arik Moore, and 20-year-old Eric Harrison from Corvallis, put in the North Santiam River at Stayton Thursday morning and were headed to the Santiam Rest Area.

Oregon Town has a BIG Problem - Hungry Bears

Biologists say the bears went into hibernation late and came out early to take advantage of easy food sources.

(FLORENCE, Ore. ) - florence bear The Oregon coastal town of Florence seems to have one BIG problem on it's hands. BEARS!!

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife says it has logged nine complaints so far about bears in and around the town of nearly 22,000. Last month, a bear killed a homeowner’s chickens, while a second bear and its young cub attempted to break into a woman’s house.

Mail ballots are due Tuesday, but state elections officials say Friday is the last day to mail-in ballots to make sure they get to county election offices in-time to be counted.
