Wyden to Hold Salem Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday

The event takes place at Pringle Hall, 606 Church St. SE, and is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Ron wyden On Wednesday, Oregon Senator Ron Wyden will be in Salem to host a community conversation on health care.

Wyden, co-sponsor of the bipartisan Healthy Americans Act, is inviting Marion County and other mid-Willamette Valley residents to attend and share their personal experiences and perspective in dealing with the health care system.

Oregon Diesel and Gas Prices Continue to Soar

In Salem, the average price this week jumped 5-cents to a new record high today of $3.42.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - gas station Gas prices in Oregon continue to reach new all-time record highs, while at the same time diesel prices in the state continue to skyrocket according to AAA.

Today, the average statewide price for a gallon of regular unleaded is at $3.461. On Monday, a the new record high was set at $3.462. That's up 4-cents from a week ago. Diesel set a new record high today in the state as the price soared another 14-cents this week to $3.95 a gallon.

Armed Robbery Suspect Captured in Salem After High Speed Chase

Around I-5, Exit 257 at Market Street, the pickup stopped and Gooding was arrested without incident.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - jail hands An Albany man was arrested for armed robbery and related crimes following an incident in Newberg late Sunday afternoon.

The robbery was followed by a police chase involving five area law enforcement agencies and ended in Salem. Caleb Verne Peter Gooding, 24, was arrested following the reported armed robbery at the Newberg Food Mart, 1012 E. First Street.

Sweet Home Men Sentenced for Crimes Against Wildlife

Penalties included 3 months or more in jail, fines, and hunting and angling suspensions.

(ALBANY, Ore. ) - Nathan John Rice Two Sweet Home-area men were sentenced Friday in Linn County Circuit Court for wildlife violations and related crimes that occurred during the fall of 2007.

According to Oregon State Police Trooper Jim Halsey, on October 30, 2007 at about 11:00 p.m. Nathan John Rice and Michael Mason, both from Sweet Home, were observed by OSP troopers breaking a gate lock off accessing private timberland.

China Moves To Arrest Hundreds as Deadline in Tibet Passes (VIDEO)

Authorities in areas of western China banned all media reporting of anti-Chinese protests.

(KATHMANDU, Tibet) - Dalai Lama of Tibet Authorities began arresting hundreds in the wake of anti-Chinese protests over the weekend in Tibet, as a deadline passed for those involved in recent marches, demonstrations, and rioting to "surrender" to police.

One witness in Lhasa said armed police were rounding up "hundreds" of suspects.

Unpublished Photos From the War in Afghanistan Released

Women, men and children are the most important feature in this landscape here, and I hope the photos do them justice. Most are shot from a moving HUMVEE, but that has its advantages of course.

(SALEM, Ore.) - I left Afghanistan over a year ago, but new video segments and photos continue to emerge from the pile of accumulated media from my two months there last winter.

The still images seem to tell stories that video and sound can be challenged to reach. I guess you could fall back on the old knowledge that sometimes, silence speaks volumes.

Volunteers of All Ages to Offer Spring Whale Watching Help

2,755 sightings occurred during last year*s spring watch week.

(DEPOE BAY,Ore.) - whales Volunteers from age eight to 80 will give whale watching aid at 28 "Whale Watching Spoken Here" coastal viewpoints from March 22nd - 29th.

The program*s youngest trained volunteered, an eight-year old girl from Turner, will share her knowledge March 26th at the Inn at Spanish Head site in Lincoln City.
