Walker Case to be Heard by Oregon Appeals Court Thursday

Lane County's judicial system and Eugene Police are at the center of the argument that claims key witnesses were not heard, and the wrong man was convicted.

(SALEM, Ore.) - An Oregon Appeals Court in Salem will hear arguments Thursday over the manslaughter conviction of an African American student named Darrell Sky Walker who is currently serving time in prison.

An attorney representing Walker says key witnesses Eugene Police couldn't find would have placed blame for the death on J.D. Beall, a friend of Walker's who was with him that night.

One Arrested, One Sought for Eve Carson`s Murder

Police are still searching for 17-year-old Lawrence Alvin Lovett Jr.

(CHAPEL HILL, NC) - Early this morning the Chapel Hill Police Department received information that the individual appearing in the convenience store photograph was possibly in a residence in Durham.

At approximately 5:00 a.m., 21-year-old Demario James Atwater was taken into police custody after he was observed exiting the residence. Warrants have been served on Atwater charging him with 1st Degree Murder in the death of Eve Carson.

Teen in Oregon Jail Charged With Father`s Murder in Idaho

The suspect is currently being held in the Lane County Juvenile Detention Facility.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Boise Police have served an arrest warrant on a 17-year-old currently in custody in Oregon for the murder of his father.

Boise Police detectives believe Derek W. Lewis killed his father at the father's Northwest Boise home likely sometime Saturday evening. Boise Police were called to a home on the 7900 block of Prince St., Monday, March 10th for a man who was found deceased by a co-worker.

UPDATE: Southwest Airlines Grounds 38 737`s

Based on preliminary findings Southwest has placed three employees on administrative leave.

(DALLAS) - Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly said today the airline is taking action on preliminary findings of its own internal investigation into allegations that it violated FAA regulations in March 2007.

A total of 44 aircraft were affected -- one was already retired, five were in maintenance for scheduled checks, and the remaining 38 were removed from scheduled service.

(CHAPEL HILL, NC) - Police in Durham, North Carolina have detained a person of interest in the murder investigation of UNC student body president Eve Carson several media outlets are reporting at this hour.

Durham officials turned the man over to police in Chapel Hill, where he is currently being held for questioning. The 22-year old was found shot to death in a suburban neighborhood not far from the UNC campus at about 5:00 a.m. last Wednesday.

Eliot Spitzer Resigns Over Call Girl Scandal

Salem Student Arrested for Leaving Threatening Note on School Wall

Police said that there is no indication that the threat was a viable one.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem police yesterday arrested a 5th grade student at Harritt Elementary School for leaving a threatening note on a bathroom wall at the school.

The school resource officer began an investigation and arrested the 11-year-old male student, who was later referred to the Polk County Juvenile Department on charges of Disorderly Conduct in the First Degree.
