(CHAPEL HILL, NC) - eve carson suspect The search continues today for the suspect(s) in the tragic and senseless murder of former University of North Carolina student body president Eve Carson.

The 22-year old was found shot to death in a suburban neighborhood not far from the UNC campus at about 5:00 a.m. last Wednesday. Police have recovered Carson's cell phone, which was found at a shopping center about a mile and a half from where her body was found.

Space Shuttle Endeavour to Dock With ISS Tonight

It will take the crew of Endeavour more than two weeks in space and five spacewalks to accomplish the goals of the mission.

(CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla.) - Space shuttle Endeavour Circling the globe aboard space shuttle Endeavour, the STS-123 crew members have completed their first full day in space.

The astronauts inspected the orbiter’s heat shield and prepared for their arrival at the International Space Station tonight at 11:25 p.m. EDT. Crew members used the shuttle’s robotic arm and Orbiter Boom Sensor System to check out the underside of Endeavour and the leading edges of its wings.

(OAKLAND, Calif.) - Findings in the Journal of the American Medical Association on the largest weight loss maintenance study to date reinforce Kaiser Permanente's approach to obesity prevention.

The combination of both personal contact and web-based support are identified as the key to successful, long-term weight management. Kaiser Permanente's Center for Health Research in Portland, Ore., was the coordinating center for the Weight Loss Maintenance Trial of 1,032 overweight and obese adults and provided five of the study co-authors.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Salem-News.com It's difficult for me not to be a bit flamboyant about this but as Oregon's number one leading marijuana doctor with more than 4,000 patients, I do feel exuberant about it.

The Oregon Department of Human Services estimated that only about 500 patients would be eligible for the marijuana permits. (they are not prescriptions) If I remember correctly in the first year we registered one thousand marijuana patients and about 500 were mine.

Salem`s Shortfall: Some Tall Thinking

We need to avoid shortsighted solutions whenever an unwelcome revenue shortfall visits our doorstep.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com They say Salem's projected revenues are falling flat. If I were in Mayor Taylor's shoes, I'd ask the council to look at the potential areas of community service that lesser-level misdemeanors and felonies could fulfill in budget areas in which staff is overstretched.

Some may be for easing city govt. workloads and others for specified work with contractors. Chief Moore and Lt. Okada would likely be part of such discussions.

(GENEVA) - Adding to a growing list of concerns over private mercenaries, some veterans advocates say soldiers and Marines have been charged with crimes carried out by members of these A growing number of private security and military companies are operating domestically and internationally without effective oversight or accountability, the United Nations working group on the use of mercenaries warned today.

Presenting its report to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, the working group said that private security companies in such conflict-wracked countries as Iraq, Colombia and Afghanistan are recruiting former policemen and members of the military from developing countries as "security guards" in their operations.
