Victim Dies in High Surf Incident at Gleneden Beach

The 16-year old male who reportedly attempted to help with the rescue effort and was reported missing by a family member has not been found.

(GLENEDEN BEACH, Ore.) - beach warning sign An 11-year old boy from the Westfir, located just west of Oakridge, is identified as one of two victims who died after he was pulled from the heavy surf Saturday afternoon at Gleneden Beach.

16-Year-Old Missing, 11-Year Old Critical After Incident in Heavy Surf on Oregon Coast

The tragic, unfolding story is a reminder of how treacherous waves on the Oregon coast can be.

(GLENEDEN BEACH, Ore.) - Firefighter on Oregon coast Police on the Oregon Coast say a 16-year old boy is unaccounted for and an 11-year old boy is in critical condition after being overwhelmed by the surf this afternoon at Gleneden Beach, north of Depoe Bay.

Around 1:15 PM, the group accompanying the 11-year old noticed he was having trouble in the surf. He was later found alive, but then police learned that a teen from another group was missing. It is suspected he was lost while looking for the 11-year old.

They told my mother three times "we don't think your son will make it". One of my doctors who met me in 1949 at medical school assumed they had scrambled my brain. He thought I was a janitor rather than a Ph.D. candidate in Pharmacology and Toxicology for Multnomah County in Portland, Oregon.

Sick Morons Molest and Mutilate Mallard Ducks in Oregon Park

(CANBY, Ore.) - Photos of mutilated ducks at Canby, Oregon 3-6--08 Police say a mother mallard duck was mutilated at the Canby City Park by two male juveniles Thursday, who were skipping classes from Canby High School. The crime happened shortly after 9:00 AM.

Canby Police Detective Chris Mead says they were notified "of this horrific crime by another Canby High School student, who contacted the Canby Police School Resource Officer who is assigned at the school."

ATM Photo Shows Suspect in Eve Carson Murder

Eve Carson was found shot to death Wednesday morning in what police say appears to be a random crime.

(CHAPEL HILL, NC) - Eve Carson Killer Supect Police in Chapel Hill today released new information in their investigation of the killing of University of North Carolina student body president Eve Carson .

The 22-year-old was found shot to death in a suburban neighborhood not far from the UNC campus at about 5 a.m. Wednesday. Police Chief Brian Curran is releasing three surveillance photos of a possible suspect in the Carson murder case. Curran said the photos were taken at an ATM machine in Chapel Hill as the suspect used Carson's ATM card.

Time to Spring Ahead: Daylight Saving Time Begins Sunday

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 changed the duration of daylight saving from the second Sunday of March to the first Sunday in November.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - clock image Most of the United States will be setting their clocks ahead as Daylight Saving Time begins at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday and then reverts to standard time on the first Sunday in November.

DST is observed throughout the U.S. except for Arizona, Hawaii, and the U.S. territories of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Marianas.

UNC Student Body President Eve Carson: Biography & Videos

Police recovered Carson's blue 2005 Toyota Highlander Thursday afternoon but have no leads or suspects in the case.

(CHAPEL HILL, NC) - Eve Marie Carson Eve Marie Carson, 22, was elected student body president at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in February 2007. Her term would have ended in April.

A native of Athens, Ga., Eve was born Nov. 19, 1985. She came to Carolina in the fall of 2004 as the recipient of a prestigious Morehead Scholarship. A member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, she was a pre-medicine student majoring in both political science and biology. As a North Carolina Fellow, she was part of a four-year leadership development program for undergraduates.

NASA hopes to launch its second shuttle flight of the year on Tuesday from the Kennedy Space Center at 2:28 a.m. EDT.

(CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. ) - space shuttle Endeavour The space shuttle Endeavour astronauts are at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida for final launch preparations for their STS-123 mission to the International Space Station.

The crew arrived at Kennedy's Shuttle Landing Facility in a Shuttle Training Aircraft at 1:21 a.m. EST Saturday, March 8. The countdown for the launch of space shuttle Endeavour began on time at 3 a.m. EST in Firing Room 4 of the launch control center. The clock picked up at the T-43 hour mark.

This group of 20 men and 3 women recruit troopers will return to their assigned OSP worksites and continue training under the guidance of a field training trooper

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon State Police graduation Governor Ted Kulongoski joined Oregon State Police Superintendent Timothy McLain in recognizing 23 Oregon State Police recruit troopers during their graduation Friday.

It was held at 3:00 PM at the Department's Advanced Recruit Training Academy at the Oregon Public Safety Academy.
