Truck Driver Cited After Crash Closes Highway 58 for Six Hours

The truck and trailer jack-knifed, overturned and slid down the highway until it came to a stop blocking all lanes.

(CRESCENT LAKE, Ore.) - Crash scene involving semi on Oregon Highway 58. 3-3-08 Oregon State Police troopers say they cited a commercial truck driver following a non-injury crash that closed Highway 58 for six hours near Crescent Lake Sunday night.

According to OSP Senior Trooper Joe Smith, the crash happened when a commercial truck pulling a semi-trailer loaded with cases of motor oil was being driven by 34-year old Salvador Rivera of Escondido, California, was westbound on Highway 58 near milepost 61 at approximately 8:00 PM.

She is working with the United Nations, and says helping the refugees will help other efforts not be in vain.

(BAGHDAD, Iraq) - Angelina Jolie in Iraq Angelina Jolie has written an emotional letter to U.S. government, asking to step up their efforts to help the innocent victims in Iraq, who are now away from their homes.

The popular 32-year old star is a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner For Refugees (UNHCR), so she claims America has an ethical duty to assist Iraq war refugees.

Boeing released the news this week, "We were just informed that our KC-767 Advanced Tanker proposal was not selected in the KC-135 Replacement Program known as KC-X."

Damaged Gate at John Day Lock Replaced

The gate at John Day was damaged late February 28th when the Sundial's barge came into contact with the upstream gate while the lock chamber was filling.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Gate replacement at the John Day Locks, 3-2-08 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers successfully removed the damaged gate at the John Day lock Sunday and were expected to re-open the lock to river traffic under restricted operations by 6:00 PM today.

Using two cranes, the Corps lifted the 125-ton upper gate out of its housing and placed it on two barges.

New `Cold Case` Web page Launched by Clackamas Sheriff`s Office

There is no statute of limitations on the crime of murder.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - A cold case squad in Oregon is hoping that a new dedicated Web page will assist them in their efforts to resolve a number of murders, some from long ago and some more recent, that have so far kept investigators baffled.

Clackamas Sheriff's Office Spokesman Jim Strovink, says this addition will allow public insight and it is often a tip from the public that allows an older case to move forward.

Several Injured in Crash Near Chemult, Oregon

People in a passenger car were injured as well as the driver of one semi.

(CHEMULT, Ore.) - Photos of crash scene Six people received non-life threatening injuries Saturday morning in a multiple vehicle crash on an icy stretch of Highway 97 about 13 miles south of Chemult, Oregon State Police said.

All involved people were using safety restraints. Senior Trooper Smith credits safety restraints use with preventing more serious injuries to the occupants in the Chrysler. Highway 97 was closed about three hours at the scene of the crash.

That has to be one of the more alarming aspects of the life of firefighters in this nation; they always have to brace themselves for the saddest and most tragic human related events.
