FEMA Provides $400,261 in Grant Funding to Oregon Fire Departments

Agencies receiving funds were Ashland Fire & Rescue, the Boring Fire District, Halsey-Shedd Rural Fire Protection District and the Mohawk Valley Rural Fire District.

(SEATTLE) - fire fighters The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded $400,261 in Assistance-to-Firefighters Grants (AFGs) to four fire departments and emergency medical service organizations in Oregon.

Oregon Coast Community College Announces Fall 2007 Honor Roll

The honor roll includes students from all over Lincoln County, Oregon, as well as other parts of the state and two neighboring states.

Stimulus Plan Approved With Improvements from Democrats

Senate Democrats improved the House Stimulus Plan but it may bring a separate toll for Oregon.

(WASHINGTON, D.C. ) - Captitol dome Congress overwhelmingly approved a $168 billion economic stimulus program today, after Democrats compromised and decided not to fight for the additional $40 billion they wanted to help Americans. Republicans were determined to restrict the spending and also able to block the needed votes for the extra money.

Suspect Arrested In Bomb Threat At Salem`s McKay High School

Police say the threat was not a viable one and no explosive devices were found.

(SALEM, Ore.) - 18-year old Mark Steven Gray Salem Police officers arrested an 18-year old McKay High School student today for leaving a note threatening to detonate a bomb in the school.

Lt. Dave Okada with Salem Police says Mark Steven Gray, a student at the school, was arrested for leaving a note in a bathroom on February 6th stating that a bomb was going to go off at McKay High School on February 8th.

Water Supply Legislation Passes Senate Committee with Broad Support

SB 1069 will provide funds to Umatilla & Morrow Co.; Grants to Oregon communities.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Drop of water With broad support both inside and outside the Capitol, the Senate Environment and Natural Resources Committee passed a bill today that will directly confront the water supply crisis in Oregon. In a consensus vote, members of the Committee advanced Senate Bill 1069, also known as "ACWA," the Agriculture and Community Water Act.

"Providing a proactive solution to depleting water resources in Oregon is vital for Oregon’s economic security," said Senate Majority Leader Richard Devlin (D-Tualatin).
