Update on Historic Nyberg House Fire in Tualatin

Until the danger of working around and beneath unstable structural members is eliminated, the fire investigation remains on-hold

(TUALATIN, Ore.) - Historic Nyberg House in Tualitan, Oregon burning January 2nd Tualatin likely began the process of saying goodbye to a landmark Wednesday, January 2nd, when flames were reported at the historic Nyberg house that night at 11:30 PM.

The building was devastated by the fire and is likely a total loss. At the time of the fire it was vacant, though transient activity was reported from time to time there.

A January 3rd 2008 memo by Assistant Interior Secretary Carl Artman contains new guidelines for the consideration off-reservation casinos.

Hundreds of Trees Cleared from Oregon Highway 126

The highway reopens after many hours of clearing work.

(SPRINGFIELD, Ore.) - Oregon Department of Transportation sign Oregon Department of Transportation maintenance crews will reopen Highway 126W at 5:00 PM today after clearing slide debris and hundreds of fallen trees from the roadway.

ODOT closed the highway between Eugene and Florence at 1:00 AM on Sunday following a landslide at milepoint 25, about 10.5 miles east of Mapleton.

Certified Nurse Midwives Join Salem Hospital

Certified nurse midwives provide comprehensive maternity care, including prenatal care, delivery and post-partum care.

(SALEM , Ore.) - Salem Hospital in Oregon Four certified nurse midwives became employees of Salem Hospital today. The certified nurse midwives are Margaret Egeland, Patricia "Happy" Barnes, Kathryn "Kitty" Nielsen and Elenie Smith. The midwives will provide comprehensive obstetrical care to low-risk pregnant women as Willamette Valley Midwives, a part of Salem Health.

"During the past 11 months, we have worked closely with the Salem Hospital OB hospitalists to make sure that women who desire midwifery deliveries have that service," says Happy Barnes, CNM.

As a result, MathStar no longer meets the requirements for continued listing on The NASDAQ Global Market and has 180 calendar days, or until July 2nd 2008, to regain compliance. During this 180-day period, MathStar's shares will continue to trade on The NASDAQ Global Market.

Marion County Commissioner Brentano Announces Bid for Re-Election

Commissioner Sam Brentano says he still has a number of goals he would like to meet.

(SUBLIMITY, Ore.) - Brentano seated on the Marion County Board of Commissioners Marion County Commissioner Sam Brentano announced today that he has filed to seek re-election. Brentano was appointed as Commissioner in November 2003 and elected in 2004 to a full four-year term.

Commissioner Brentano stated, "I have to admit that I only intended to serve one term. However, there are so many issues that I care about and I want to keep working on them."

New Pacific Storms Bring More Rain and Snow to the Northwest (VIDEO)

At the height of the weekend storms, more than two million people from Eureka to Los Angeles were without power.

(SALEM, Ore.) - AccuWeather.com weather map Forecasters report a new Pacific storm will bring more rain and snow to the Northwest today; however, the snow and rain totals will be nowhere near the amounts produced by the deadly storms that pounded the West over the weekend.

Moderate to heavy snow will fall today in the Cascades and the northern Sierra Nevada. By Tuesday night, an additional one to two feet of snow could be added to the incredible snowfall amounts produced by the twin monster storms that slammed into the West Coast over the past several days.

Troopers are attempting to locate a third unidentified vehicle involving in this crash that drove away southbound from the scene.

(ROSEBURG, Ore.) - Crash on I-5 South of Roseburg, Oregon, 1-7-08 A Roseburg man was seriously injured Sunday night in a weather-related traffic crash on Interstate 5 south of Roseburg.

Police say the man had just returned to his car after a non-injury single vehicle crash when he was struck by a driver and actually ejected from his vehicle.
