Oregon Names New State Medicaid Director

Prior to serving as interim administrator, Edge served as the division's deputy administrator for four years.

(SALEM, Ore.) - James Edge James Edge has been named assistant director for the Oregon Department of Human Services Division of Medical Assistance Programs. Edge has served as interim DMAP administrator since March.

In his new role Edge will be responsible for administering the state's Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance programs.

Gosh. What the HECK is Kevin Mannix doing for FreedomWorks?

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Kevin Mannix In 2005, he was the biggest FreedomWorks "political consultant," for $200,089, and a consultant for $70,989 in 2004, as reported back on March 8th. Now that the 2006 tax returns for the FreedomWorks Foundation have shown up, we see that he was paid $268,650 for "Legal services."

So, what is Kevin Mannix doing for FreedomWorks for all of that cash? Selling insurance? And how does he have all that time to be donating his legal services to so many petitions?

Oregon`s Gas Prices Catching Up with Soaring Crude Oil costs

The price of gas continues to increase in Oregon and across the country. It appears prices at the pumps could climb another 20-cents or so in the next few weeks.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Gas pumps "Gas prices continue to rise at the pumps to catch up to skyrocketing oil prices." AAA Oregon Public Affairs Director Marie Dodds says.

"The national average increased 8 cents in the past week to $3.105 per gallon for regular unleaded, and Oregon's statewide average jumps three cents to $3.16 this week.

The new Rambo movie is due out in early 2008.

(HOLLYWOOD, Calif.) - Rambo 4 Rambo takes to the screen again, and again he is plunged straight into the middle of real world politics in the new movie Rambo which is due for release in early 2008.

In the new movie, which will be known as Rambo 4 even if that isn't really the name of it, Vietnam veteran John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) has slipped into a secluded existence in Bangkok, where he spends his time salvaging old PT boats and tanks for scrap metal.

Six American Soldiers and One Marine Die in Afghanistan

The U.S. government reports several deaths from two incidents in increasingly hostile Afghanistan. A Marine was also killed in the same area.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Military coffins The Department of Defense has announced the death of six soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Five died of wounds sustained when their patrol was attacked by direct fire from enemy forces in Aranus, Afghanistan, on November 9th. One died in a separate incident in in Bagram, from wounds suffered in Tagab, Afghanistan.

PETA Claims Investigation Reveals Shocking Abuse in Oregon Primate Center

Group says their news conference will present documentation of sick and injured animals, psychological trauma.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - OHSUs Primate Center Today, PETA will hold a news conference in Portland to present evidence of alleged rampant and routine violations of the federal Animal Welfare Act that were gathered during a four-month undercover investigation at the Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC) in Beaverton.

Expect Long Lines, Delays at Airports Worldwide Over Thanksgiving Holiday

Airlines say they are committed to improving the customer travel experience.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - planes at airport The Air Transport Association of America, the industry trade organization representing the leading U.S. airlines, is forecasting a 4 percent year-over-year increase in the number of passengers traveling globally on U.S. airlines during the 2007 Thanksgiving holiday season.

Based on a sample of recent historical data, the three busiest travel days during the Thanksgiving travel period are expected to be Sunday, Nov. 25; Monday, Nov. 26; and Wednesday, Nov. 21, respectively. Over the entire 12-day holiday travel period, ATA projects that planes will be, on average, close to 90 percent full.
