Tens of Thousands Without Power as Wind Storm Hits Oregon

South winds of 20 to 30 MPH with gusts of 40 to 50 MPH are expected to continue in the Willamette Valley until later this afternoon.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - storm watch image The Oregon Coast and the mid-Willamette Valley continue to be battered by heavy winds and rain. There are reports from the coast to the valley of numerous trees and branches being down, as well as numerous power outages.

More than 30,000 PGE customers are without power, with the greatest concentrations on the east side of the Portland and Salem-area. PGE has all available repair crews at work restoring power.

Oregon Coast, Valley Battered by Strong Winds, Rain

Winds this morning have already gusted to 48 MPH at the Salem airport.

About 25,000 PGE customers are without power, with the greatest concentrations on the east side of the Portland and Salem-area.

Salem Woman Dies in Crash Sunday

Investigators say one driver was pronounced dead on the scene and the other was transported via life flight to OHSU.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Fatal crash A Salem woman passed away over the weekend in a two car crash in the 9200 block of Howell Prairie Road NE Sunday morning at 9:43 AM.

Deputies say Elaine Kuenzi of Salem, was driving her 2004 Chrysler 300 southbound on Howell Prairie Road NE, when she collided with a 1995 BMW that was driven by a 16-year old Salem female who was northbound on Howell Prairie.

Korean War Soldier Recovered and Returned to United States (Photos)

Corporal Clem Boody was reported missing on Nov. 2nd 1950 and was one of the more than 350 servicemen unaccounted-for from the battle at Unsan.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Imafes of Unsan Battle during Korean War The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office says the remains of a U.S. serviceman, missing in action from the Korean War, have been identified and will be returned to his family for burial with full military honors.

He is Corporal Clem R. Boody, U.S. Army, of Independence, Iowa. His burial date and location are being set by his family.

Man Accidentally Runs Over His Small Granddaughter

The child was seriously injured but is now in fair condition. Alcohol is not a factor, investigators say.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Child injured A two-year old female child was injured over the weekend when she was accidentally run over by her grandfather, while he was moving his vehicle in the driveway.

Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff's Office responded to the location where the child was was injured, in the 4900 block of Wagon Rim Court SE in Salem, Saturday at 6:30 PM. The child was taken to Salem Hospital.

UPDATE - Semi Rollover Closes Interstate 84 Westbound Near Pendleton

Update: Traffic is now passing the crash scene in one Westbound land of I-84.

(PENDLETON, Ore.) - Crash investigation Oregon State Police say they are on the scene of a semi truck crash on Interstate 84. The westbound lanes were initially closed after the crash near milepost 219, about eight miles of Pendleton.

Transportation officials say one lane of Interstate 84 westbound near milepost 219 has now opened with crews working to reopen the second lane.

North Salem Crime Prevention Council Meeting This Week

The meeting will be held on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Salem Senior Center, 1055 Erixon St. NE.

The Toy Drive began in December '86 when an officer responded to the scene of a suicide.
