Group says 39% growth in Health Care cost is the Culprit.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon homeless man The high cost of health care, elevated prices in housing, utilities and transportation are the main reasons why the cost of living is outpacing the actual wages of Oregonians.

The cost of living is the amount of money that is needed for an individual or family to meet their basic needs. A living wage is the calculated wage that would fully cover the cost of living.

Fatal Crash Near Klamath Falls Involved 18 Vehicles

The early Monday morning multi-vehicle fatal traffic crash occurred during limited visibility conditions on Highway 97 about six miles north of the Oregon/California border.

(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) - Fatal crash near Klamath Falls, Oregon 11-5-07 Police say a fatal crash near the California border involved at least 18 vehicles. Several drivers who narrowly avoided becoming part of the collision remained on scene. Police say low visibility was the reason for the tragic incident.

The 7:20 AM series of traffic crashes were reported to Klamath County 911 Center in both directions on Highway 97 between milepost 283 and 285.

Driver in Fatal Estacada Crash Identified

Investigators have learned that the woman who died was driving her family to her husband's father's funeral in Oregon City.

(ESTACADA, Ore.) - Clackamas investigators have released more information on this morning's fatal automobile crash on Redland Road in Estacada. The driver who died was 40-year old Kimberly Kay Erwin, who resided with her husband and two daughters in Eagle Creek.

Jim Strovink with the Clackamas Sheriff's Office, says Mrs. Erwin's 2003 Mustang GT entered the intersection of South Redland Road from South Clear Creek in Estacada when it was struck by another vehicle, causing the fatal crash.

Washington Soldier Killed Fighting in Afghanistan

He was assigned to the 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, at Fort Riley, Kansas.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Washington soldier killed The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Sergeant First Class Johnny C. Walls, 41, of Bremerton, Washington, died November 2nd in Uruzgan, Afghanistan. It is reported that he died from wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms fire during combat operations.

Clackamas Patrol Investigating Fatal Crash

All subjects involved are being transported by ambulance to local area hospitals with non-life threatening described injuries.

(ESTACADA, Ore.) - Fatal crash site predicts this portion of the South Redland Road near Estacada, Oregon, 11-5-07 Clackamas patrol deputies say one person died in a crash that happened around 9:45 this morning in Estacada. It happened at 22352 S. Redland Road, two vehicles were involved.

Jim Strovink with the Clackamas Sheriff's Office says a Clackamas County Deputy Medical Examiner has been dispatched to this crash scene. Preliminary information from the crash scene indicates this crash occurred at the intersection of S. Redland Road and S. Clear Creek Road, in Estacada," Strovink said.

Fog Leads to Multi Car Fatal Crash Near Oregon/California Border

Fog is blamed for the crash that is said to have involved 14 vehicles.

(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) - Oregon State Police are on the scene of a fatal traffic crash on Highway 97 about 6 miles north of the Oregon/California border, south of Klamath Falls.

Oregon State Police troopers on scene report one confirmed fatality, eight other people involved in the crash were transported by Klamath area emergency responders to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Police Say Dispute Over Pregnancy Led to Homicide

"Part of the conflict revolved around the victim’s pregnancy. At the time of the victim’s death she was between her first and second trimester." - Linn Sheriff Tim Mueller

(ALBANY, Ore.) - 27-year old Christopher G. Weston of Lyone, Oregon has been arrested for homicide. Deputies in Linn County responded to a report of a suicide November 1st at 147 6th Street in Lyons, but they say initial reports of a self-inflicted gunshot wound were untrue.

Today they announced that a person has been arrested for homicide in the case.
