Escaped Utah Prisoner Missing Over 22 Years Arrested in Oregon

(SALEM, Ore.) - A Utah State Prisoner who escaped from custody and remained missing for more than 22 years, was captured Thursday by Oregon State Police in the Salem area during an identity theft investigation.

They say 62-year old Lyndal Dala Ritterbush was arrested without incident as a Fugitive From Justice after Oregon State Police positively identified him as an escaped Utah State Prison inmate.

Smith Urges Agreement on Children`s Health Measure

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Senator Gordon H. Smith (R-OR) urged his colleagues today to work together quickly to reach a comprise on legislation to reauthorize the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).

His statement comes following a vote on the second legislative attempt in the Senate (H.R. 3963) to reauthorize the program after the initial measure was vetoed in early October. H.R. 3963 also is expected to be vetoed by the White House.

Frozen Pizzas Recalled Over E. Coli Outbreak

(SALEM, Ore.) - Public health officials are urging consumers to throw away any Totino's or Jeno's brand frozen pizzas that contain pepperoni in the wake of a multi-state outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 infections.

The manufacturer, General Mills, has recalled all frozen pepperoni pizzas produced at their Wellston, Ohio, plant. More than 120 million of these pizzas have been distributed since the beginning of July.

Shock Jock Don Imus Returning to Airwaves

Imus was fired earlier this year after describing the Rutgers women's basketball team as "nappy-headed hos".

(NEW YORK) - Citadel Broadcasting Corporation and 77 WABC-AM Radio announced today the hiring of shock jock Don Imus as the station’s new morning host just nine months after he made sexist remarks about a college women's basketball team.

Imus is bringing his team back to the radio, including newsman Charles McCord. The show will air on 77 WABC-AM and will be syndicated nationally by the ABC Radio Network.

Parents Invited to Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training

The training is titled “Recognizing Child Molesters - A New Approach to Protecting Children”

The Salem-Keizer School District is hosting a sex abuse prevention training session this month to help parents keep their children safe from becoming a victim of sexual abuse.

Florida Buckles Down for Tropical Storm Noel

(STATE COLLEGE, Pa.) - Tropical Storm Noel today will move through the northwestern Bahamas before passing about 100 miles east of southeastern Florida. There is a small window for Noel to intensify into a weak Category 1 hurricane before strong wind shear tonight interacts with the storm.

South Florida today will be buffeted by wind gusting to 40-mph and occasional blasts of drenching rain. The onshore winds over the past several days along the east coast of Florida have created rough seas, dangerous rip currents, severe beach erosion, and coastal flooding.

Oregon State University Launches $625 Million Campaign

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - Oregon State University leaders have officially launched “The Campaign for OSU,” a $625-million fundraising effort and the university’s first ever comprehensive capital campaign. Supporters have already committed $350 million toward the goal.

As part of the event, OSU President Ed Ray also announced $77 million in private and public commitments toward a major campaign initiative: the Linus Pauling Science Center and its associated research and education programs.

Wanted Person Arrested by Marion County Deputies

Police say there was never a threat to school children's safety, but as a precaution, nearby schools went into lock down procedures.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Marion County deputies arrested 29-year old David Torres in the 100 block of Browning Ave SE in Salem Wednesday at 1:45 PM, after what police describe as an elude and chase through south Salem neighborhoods.

Torres has been a person of interest in the murder investigation of Michael Kurt Zeeb, who was killed while inside his residence on 38th Avenue NE on December 13th, 2006.
