Salem Police Make Arrest in Department of Defense Computer Theft

The Red Lion Inn's video surveillance and security system captured footage suspect entering the victim's vehicle, and that video was released to media sources

(SALEM, Ore.) - laptop Salem Police say a Department of Defense computer was stolen October 20th from a vehicle broken into at the Red Lion Inn at 3301 Market St NE. Lt. Dave Okada with Salem Police says the suspect in the crime has been arrested.

Okada says the Department of Defense-owned laptop computer that was stolen remains missing. Information from the employee was that the computer does not contain any classified material.

Health Advisory Issued for Water Contact at Nye Beach

While these advisories are in effect at Nye Beach, visitors should avoid wading in nearby creeks or in discolored water, and stay clear of water runoff flowing into the ocean.

(NEWPORT, Ore.) - A public health advisory was issued Wednesday due to higher-than-normal levels of bacteria in ocean waters at Nye Beach in Lincoln County.

Increased pathogen and fecal bacteria levels in waterways are common after heavy rain events, when runoff can wash pollutants into streams and rivers, and sanitary sewers may overflow.

Traffic Safety Sign: Don`t End Up Like This

Earlier this year two fatal crashes happened on this stretch of highway, one of which was just north of where the safety billboard has been erected:

(ONTARIO, Ore.) - New billboard with traffic safety message on US 95 in Oregon, 10-31-07 Traffic safety partners in Malheur County hope that a billboard placed on Highway 95 north of McDermitt near the Oregon / Nevada border will be a reminder to travelers using this rural southeast Oregon route and reduce serious injury and fatal crashes.

Working in cooperation with Meadow Signs and a local property owner who agreed to place the safety billboard on her property, the Malheur Traffic Safety Commission developed the billboard with a fatal crash scene photograph accompanied by the message ‘Don't End Up Like This. Slow Down & Live'.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Suspect in Papa Murphy`s Pizza robbery Sunday Police released digital pictures of the robbery suspect from the Papa Murphy's Pizza robbery Sunday night in Wood Village. Then a few hours later they sent out a release stating that the suspect was in custody.

The suspect police were looking is alleged to have returned to the same pizza parlor to rob it a second time when he was captured and arrested.

(UNITED NATIONS) - UN mediator Ibrahim Gambari and Aung San Suu Kyi who many consider to be the political and spiritual leader of Myanmar. United Nations Special Adviser Ibrahim Gambari is set to arrive in Myanmar on Saturday, his second visit to the South-East Asian nation since authorities used force in responding to a wave of peaceful protests that began in August.

The November 3rd - 8th visit follows Mr. Gambari’s recently concluded tour of Myanmar’s regional partners that included stops in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, China and Japan.

Military Funeral Protesting Church Will Pay Almost $11 Million in Lawsuit (VIDEO)

(SALEM, Ore.) - The Westboro Baptist Church at a protest in Hood River, Oregon It couldn't happen to a more deserving group of people. The Westboro Baptist Church was nailed in court on Halloween day to the tune of $10.9 Million. That is how much a jury believes these Kansas creeps owe a Pennsylvania father who had to put up with their harassment as he laid his son who was killed in the Iraq War to rest.

Most people have heard of the Westboro Church by now. They picket military funerals in this country with signs that read, "That God for Dead Soldiers." Their point, allegedly, is that soldiers are dying overseas because the United States condones homosexuality.

Police Searching for 14-Year old Washington Girl

(ALGONA, Wash.) - Suspect Claudio Madrigal-Cardenas and victim Miarlene Sales The Washington State Police and the Algona Police Department issued an Amber Alert on Wednesday afternoon after a girl was apparently abducted from her school on Tuesday morning. The Amber Alert has been canceled but the girl is still missing.

The girl police are looking for is Miarlene Sales. The suspect and victim may be headed to California or Mexico. Miarlene Sales is described as a 14-year old Hispanic female with black hair and brown eyes. She is five feet tall and she weighs 110 pounds.
