Business Leaders Warn Of Congressional Power Grab Over Water Control

The legislation is known as the "Clean Water Restoration Act."

(GOLDEN, Co.) - Legislation quietly moving forward in the U.S. Congress would expand the federal government's control over U.S. waters to such an extent that even periodically wet ground would come under federal hegemony, a group of business leaders is warning.

"This bill represents one of the most expansive power grabs by the federal government over state and local control in memory," said Jim Sims, President and CEO of the Western Business Roundtable.

$50,000 Reward Offered Over California Wildfires

The reward, authorized by California's Governor, is offered toward the arrest and conviction of arsonist.

The reward is over more than 15 fires burning in southern California. It takes into account the fact that the fires have burned hundreds of thousands of acres, including thousands of homes, businesses and structures.

California Wildfires Lessening With Changing Weather

Otay Lakes and Thousand Trails Area Evacuation orders have been lifted.

(SAN DIEGO) - Residents evacuated from Otay Lakes Road to Pio Pico Thousand Trails as a result of the Harris Fire will be allowed to return home today. The evacuated residents will be allowed back in to their homes at 8:00 AM this morning.

Officials say the fire and emergency threat to this area has been mitigated, and critical infrastructures such as roads and bridges have been assessed and evaluated.

Remains Confirmed as Missing Salem Man

A deerhunter discovered the remains near McCully Mountain Road on October 13th.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - Skeletal remains that were discovered on October 13th in a remote area of Linn County have been identified as a missing Salem man. Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller says tests have confirmed that remains are those of 37-year old William Carl Mills.

The State Medical Examiner's Office conducted the analysis that confirms the identity of Mr. Mills, who was reported missing to the Salem Police Department on January 27th 2007.

Discovery at Space Station; Joint Operations Underway

Preparations will also begin today for the first of five scheduled spacewalks.

(HOUSTON) - The Discovery crew entered the International Space Station for the first time after the hatches between the station and Space Shuttle Discovery opened at 10:39 AM EDT today.

One of the first major tasks is the station crew rotation. Mission Specialist Daniel Tani will switch places with Expedition 16 Flight Engineer Clayton Anderson, who will be wrapping up a four-month tour of duty as an Expedition crew member.

"Today, we are taking additional steps to combat Iran's dangerous conduct and to engage financial institutions worldwide to make the most informed decisions about those with whom they choose to do business," said Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson.

UN Will Probe Allegations of Abuses in Myanmar

(BEAVERTON, Ore.) - Beaverton Police were called out to the area of SW 12th and SW Hall Boulevard early this morning on a report a male suspect having exposed himself to a female juvenile.

Beaverton Police Sgt. Paul Wandel says the juvenile was walking in the area when she heard a loud sound; turned around and saw an adult male masturbating.
