UN Says Myanmar Requires bold actions towards Democracy

The UN is deeply concerned by reports of continued human rights violations by authorities in the wake of the protests.

(UNITED NATIONS) - Myanmar needs to take major steps towards democratizing, protecting human rights and accelerating its national reconciliation process, the Secretary-General says the authorities’ use of force against peaceful demonstrators in the Asian country “abhorrent and unacceptable.”

The council also heard a briefing from his Special Adviser Ibrahim Gambari on his visit to Myanmar earlier this week, Mr. Ban said it was time for a serious and comprehensive dialogue between the Government and the political opposition.

3 Salem Teens Injured When Car Hits Stone Wall

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Three Salem teens were injured in a motor vehicle accident Friday afternoon, when the car they were riding in slammed into a stone wall.

Salem Fire Department spokeman Bill Holstrom says the incident occurred around 2:48 PM at the intersection of Titan Drive and Firefox Street in West Salem. First arriving firefighters discovered a Honda Accord had hit a stone wall in a front yard.

Vehicle Arson With Human Remains‏ Discovered

A Sheriff's Office Spokesman in Clackamas says they have not ruled out suicide, the car in in a very remote location.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says a citizen discovered an incinerated, still-smoldering automobile that appears to contain human remains on a logging road near Estacada. The discovery was reported at 1:37 PM this afternoon, according to Sheriff's Office Spokesman Jim Strovink.

He says members of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit are responding to this remote, isolated location to thoroughly investigate this discovery.

George Fox University Relocates Salem Teaching Center

Missing California Woman Found Safe on Oregon Coast

(SEASIDE, Ore. ) - The family of a Sacramento-area Librarian who had been missing since Saturday says she has been found alive in Seaside, Oregon.

The family of 24-year-old Mandy Kelsey says she was found wandering on a bridge in Seaside. Seaside police and her family say she is in good condition, and is currently being evaluated at a local hospital.

(SOUTHAMPTON, England) - A railway funeral van used to carry Sir Winston Churchill to his final resting place has been returned to the UK by Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics.

The historic van was shipped to Southampton from Port Hueneme, near Los Angeles, where it formed part of a mock English railway station at a Californian resort. The van will be restored in Somerset and The Swanage Railway Trust will provide a new home for it in Dorset, West of England.
