Health Advisory Issued for Water Contact at Cannon Beach

A health advisory has been lifted for water contact at D River State Park Beach in Lincoln City.

(CANNON BEACH, Ore.) - A public health advisory was issued Wednesday due to higher-than-normal levels of bacteria in ocean waters at Cannon Beach in Clatsop County. The exceedance was found in the marine water near the storm water outfall at the Ecola Court beach access point.

Victim Identified in Fatal Traffic Crash on Highway 126E

The fatal crash happened east of Finn Rock Wednesday morning.

(EUGENE, Ore.) - A 30-year old man died early Wednesday morning in a single vehicle fatal traffic crash about one mile east of Finn Rock on Mckenzie River Highway 126E.

Two-Alarm Commercial Fire at Salem`s Willamette University

Nobody was hurt in the campus fire.

(SALEM, Ore.) - 25 people were evacuated from the University Apartments on the Willamette University Campus after a fire broke out on the 7th floor of the apartment building. Firefighters say no one was injured and property damage was kept to a minimum.

Salem Fire Department Spokesman Bill Holmstrom says that atound 10:41 this morning, the first alarm assignment sent 3 fire engines, a ladder truck, medic unit and battalion chief to the commercial fire at 425 Winter Street SE, on the grounds of Willamette University.

Job Growth Not Dampened by Minimum Wage Raises, Study Shows

(SILVERTON, Ore.) - Coinciding with today's announcement by state officials that Oregon's minimum wage will increase by 15 cents next year, the Oregon Center for Public Policy has issued an analysis showing that minimum wage cost-of-living adjustments have not led to the dire consequences predicted by the farm and restaurant industries that opposed pegging the minimum wage to inflation.

Oregon's minimum wage will increase from $7.80 to $7.95 per hour on January 1st, 2008, the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries announced today.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Calling the administration’s policy a “cruel choice” for states that are working to expand coverage to the millions of children currently living without health care, U.S. Senator Ron Wyden today sent a letter asking Secretary of Health and Human Services Michael Leavitt to repeal the Bush administration’s recently announced eligibility restrictions for the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (S-CHIP).

The restrictions would prohibit millions of children from receiving health insurance under an expanded version of S-CHIP.

Canyon Creek Road Near Sweet Home Closed by Landslide

The visiting public is reminded to drive all forest roads with caution, as natural hazards such as falling trees and rocks can occur.

(SWEET HOME, Ore. ) - A large rock slide has closed Forest Road 2022, informally known as the Canyon Creek Road, near Sweet Home, Ore.

The rock slide occurred along the bluffs located at milepost 5.1, a site that has experienced small scale rock fall for some time.
