Sex Offender Arrested for Sexual Assault in Beaverton

(BEAVERTON, Ore.) - Beaverton Police say they arrested an adult sex offender as he was having sex with a 13-year old girl in a transient camp Monday night.

Sgt. Paul Wandell with Beaverton Police says it began when a TriMet fare inspector obtained the names of the pair and identified them as 22-year old Roger Lester Larocque III and a 13 year-old runaway as they were leaving the Beaverton Transit Center.

Coast Guard Airlifts Air Force Member Near Tillamook Bay

The Air Force was conducting the water survival training in life rafts at the time of the incident.

(TILLAMOOK, Ore. ) - A Coast Guard rescue helicopter crew airlifted an Air Force member yesterday after he developed a medical condition during a water survival exercise 1.5 miles west of Tillamook Bay, Ore.

The member was transferred from a raft and onto a nearby 47-foot motor lifeboat from Coast Guard Station Tillamook Bay at 12:15 PM.

Minutes later, the member was hoisted from the motor lifeboat to an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Astoria, Ore.

The "best if use by (BIUB)" code date can be located in the upper right hand corner of the front of the bag.

Horizon Air Back at 90 Percent; Announces Modified Schedule

(SEATTLE) - To accommodate currently booked customers and those wishing to make future travel plans, Horizon Air has released a modified firm schedule that is expected to stay in effect Tuesday, September 18th, through Monday, September 24th.

The schedule will allow the airline to complete the inspections of the Bombardier Aerospace Q400 turboprops in its fleet, as per Transport Canada and Bombardier specifications.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Attorney General Hardy Myers has announced the filing of an agreement with a former Lake Oswego man putting him permanently out of business in the State of Oregon and preventing him from borrowing money or taking investments from any Oregon consumer.

The Financial Fraud/Consumer Protection section of DOJ first investigated Thomas O. Regan in 1990 for selling living trusts.

In DOJ’s most recent investigation of Regan’s activities, investigators were approached by an elderly woman’s son who alleged that Regan, after selling his mother a living trust, had taken thousands of dollars from his mother over an extended period of time.

Oregon`s Unemployment Rate Unchanged in August

Oregon’s August job gain contrasted with the national employment picture, where a slight loss of 4,000 jobs was recorded at the national level.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was essentially unchanged at 5.4 percent in August from 5.5 percent in July. The U.S. seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.6 percent in both July and August.

In August, Oregon’s seasonally adjusted nonfarm payroll employment grew by 5,000, following a gain of 1,100 in July.

In August, seasonally adjusted payroll employment expanded by 5,000 after a revised gain of 1,100 in July. These gains followed a loss of 1,600 jobs in June.

UPDATE: Police Locate Two Missing Oregon Teachers

District counselors, as well as counselors from other districts are providing help to students and staff who need them.

(STEVENSON, Wash.) - The Skamania sheriff's office says that they have found the two missing Oregon teachers who failed to return from a hike near Mount St. Helens.

Both were in good shape and did not require medical attention.

The teachers were identified as 36-year-old Kim Wilson, a science and wellness program middle-school teacher, and 27-year-old Dave Bahr, a health/wellness and PE high school teacher.

Suicide Rates Among Oregon Veterans on The Rise

"Suicide remains a serious public health issue in Oregon," said Governor Ted Kulongoski.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - While the number of violent deaths in Oregon declined slightly in 2005, a new report by the Oregon Department of Human Services finds that suicide remains a public health problem, particularly among veterans of the military.

According to the report, "Violent Deaths in Oregon: 2005," 748 Oregonians suffered violent deaths that year, which is down from 771 violent deaths in 2004.

The report found that in 2005, 28 percent of all suicides, or 153 adults, were among veterans, 148 of whom were male.
