Albany Police Arrest Bank Robbery Suspect

Police arrested the man they believe was responsible for the armed robbery.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Albany Police Department responded to the Willamette Community Bank at 333 SE Lyon Street today on the report of a robbery in progress.

Captain Eric Carter with Albany Police says bank employees reported that a white male adult entered the bank just before 10:00 AM, presented a note that demanded money, and then fled the area on foot.

"The suspect, armed with a handgun, made off with an undisclosed amount of money."

Salem Police Discover Body While Investigating Drug Complaint

51-year Sheree Pat Smith was found in a bedroom, dead from a drug overdose.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Detectives from Salem Police found more than they were bargaining for when investigating a drug complaint Wednesday. They say they found a woman's body at 1687 Savage Rd NE while responding over a complaint of "a filthy residence," said Greg Hastings, OSP Spokesman.

Hastings says that at 3:30 PM Wednesday, a report over possible drug activity and the dirty residence led detectives to the residence, where they were allowed inside by Allen Terwilleger, who had been staying with the resident, Fawn Coker and her two small children.

Few Oregon Workers Can Celebrate Economy This Labor Day

Workers are More Efficient, but Most Income Gains Going to Households Making Over $360,000 and Corporations.

(SILVERTON, Ore.) - This Labor Day Oregon is completing four years of an economic expansion with income benefits that have flowed disproportionately to those with incomes over $360,000, according to a report released today by the Oregon Center for Public Policy, a nonpartisan research institute based in Silverton.

"Oregon's economy has been growing steadily since the summer of 2003," said Michael Leachman, a policy analyst with the public policy research institute and co-author of the report, "but the bulk of the income gains are going to corporations and the richest of the richest Oregonians."

Forecast: Western Oregon Cooler, Wetter and Snowier This Winter

Oregon residents east of the Cascades will see warmer-than-average temperatures and average precipitation through the fall and winter.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - In his years of producing a fall and winter weather forecast for the state, George Taylor has rarely if ever predicted snow for western Oregon – and true to form, he won’t go too far out on a limb this year.

But Taylor, who manages the Oregon Climate Service at Oregon State University, concedes that it is a good likelihood this year.

Taylor and colleague Cadee Hale have just issued the Oregon Climate Service’s forecast for October through March and the bottom line is that once we get through October, temperatures are expected to be slightly cooler than average in western Oregon, with average to above-average precipitation.

10 WWE Wrestlers Suspended After Steroid Probe

The suspensions come as part of an on-going investigation into alleged illegal steroid sales by Orlando's Signature Pharmacy.

(NEW YORK) - World Wrestling Entertainment has suspended 10 wrestlers for violating its drug and steroid testing policy.

In a statement WWE said: Based on independent information received from investigators from the Albany County, NY D.A.’s office, WWE has today, under the penalty provisions of its wellness policy, issued suspension notices to 10 of its performers for violations.

Salem Man Arrested for Kidnapping, Attempted Rape of Keizer Woman

The victim had several lacerations and broken facial bones, but her injuries were not life threatening.

(KEIZER, Ore. ) - Keizer Police say an officer located a woman early this morning in the 800 block of Lockhaven Drive, who was partly naked and suffering from facial injuries. It was later determined that a man had kidnapped and assaulted her, as well as attempting to sexually assault her.

Police say the victim and suspect were walking down Lockhaven Drive near the 800 block when the incident occurred. It is reported that the victim refused to have sexual intercourse, the suspect forced her into a nearby field to try and sexually assault her.

Sex Abuse Allegations Filed Against Salem Church

Lawyers for the plaintiff say a fifteen-year old male who molested a seven-year old girl had an established history as a sex offender in another state.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Attorneys representing a 23-year old Oregon woman say she was subjected to multiple counts of sexual molestation and abuse as a 7-year old girl while attending the East Salem Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Kelly Clark of the Portland law firm O'Donnell & Clark LLP, says the offender at the time was a 15-year old boy who attended the same congregation.

Clark says the case is important, because it illustrates the need for churches to monitor and maintain people who are in a close proximity to children.

ODOT Will Suspend Roadwork Over Labor Day Weekend

Drivers still need to pay attention to the orange construction signs, detours, lane restrictions and speed limit signs in work zones.

(SALEM, Ore.) - The Oregon Department of Transportation will suspend construction activities on all state highways over the upcoming Labor Day weekend.

In an effort to ease congestion and improve traffic flow, all ODOT-controlled construction activity that affects travel lanes on Oregon highways will shut down beginning at noon on Friday. Work activities will not resume until Tuesday, September 4th.
