Albany Bicyclist Killed Sunday

Investigators are not sure why the 65-year old Albany resident veered into the path of an oncoming car.

(ALBANY, Ore.) - An Albany woman was killed Sunday afternoon when she turned her bicycle into the path of a car on Seven Mile Lane near the intersection of Three Lakes Road south of Albany.

Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller says that at approximately 2:50 PM Sunday, 65-year old Laneve Yvonne Johnson was traveling eastbound on Seven Mile Lane along with her husband, Barry Johnson, who was also on a bicycle.

Multi-Car Crash Closes Northbound I-5 in Salem for Two Hours Sunday

Only one person was transported by ambulance to the hospital and her injuries were not life-threatening.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Traffic on northbound I-5 was halted for two hours Sunday after a multi-vehicle crash that included the jackknife of a semi-truck.


Police say that around 4:30 PM, a Nissan Pathfinder driven by 62-year old Lola Huish of Salem, was attempting to merge into heavy traffic in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 from the Kuebler Road on-ramp when it reportedly sideswiped an unknown commercial truck in the right northbound lane.

Name Released in Investigation of Man Who Shot Himself During Traffic Stop

Police say the man was driving with a suspended license, had no outstanding warrants for his arrest.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Police have identified the man who shot himself early Saturday evening shortly after being stopped by an Oregon State Police Sergeant on Highway 22 west of Highway 99W. 30-year old Derrick Girard Guajardo of Woodburn died Sunday morning at Salem Hospital.

Saturday at approximately 6:57 PM, OSP Sergeant David Peterson stopped a 1995 Honda Civic four-door displaying Washington license plates on Highway 22 near milepost 18 for a speed-related violation.

Man Sought in Oregon Double Homicide

The person of interest is 22-year old Matthew Avina-Norris.

(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) - Three shooting victims were found injured, two fatally, early Sunday morning at an apartment at 4520 Bristol Avenue, according to Klamath County Chief Deputy District Attorney David P. Groff.

Preliminary investigation found that 20-year old Marissa Lynn Orlow was found dead at the scene. 22-year old David Joshua Kitts, and 18-year old Melissa Ann Kitts, were transported to the hospital, where David Kitts later died. David and Melissa were husband and wife.

Police Say Man Shot Himself During Traffic Stop West of Salem

After stopping, the 30-year old male operator remained inside the car and placed a gun to his head. The OSP sergeant took cover and then heard a gunshot.

(WEST SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon State Police say a motorist shot himself during a traffic stop Saturday evening after being stopped by an OSP Sergeant on Highway 22 west of the Highway 99W junction in Polk County.

Investigators say an OSP Sergeant stopped a 1995 Honda Civic four-door on Highway 22 near milepost 18 for a speed-related violation at approximately 6:57 PM.

30 People Escape Apartment Fire in Milwaukie

Investigators say this is a case where fire sprinklers in an apartment building could have significantly reduced fire damage.

(MILWAUKIE, Ore.) - A 4 alarm fire broke out at the Clackamas Heights Apartments just before 3:00 PM Friday. Clackamas firefighters arriving at the apartments at 10807 Monroe in Milwaukie, they found heavy fire showing from the southwest corner of the apartments.

The first arriving crews found the rear of the apartment complex fully involved along with an out building. Large trees next to the apartment building were also fully involved.

Oregon State Police Arrest Former DMV Employee in Title Washing Scheme

Police say the man worked with others to falsely title cars that had been wrecked or totaled.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - A nine-month long joint investigation resulted in the arrest of a former Oregon DMV employee Friday morning after a sixteen count indictment was handed down by a grand jury against the employee and two other co-conspirators.

The investigation began after personnel at the suspect's DMV office became suspicious of some of his activity, began monitoring his transactions.
