As the stock market falls and top federal officials resign, an Oregon man steps forward with strong allegations against an American financial giant.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Charles Schwab When David brought Goliath down, he used a single stone. Most thought the deed too ambitious, but it worked. Now a new version of the old story emerges with new faces, and a similar fate may await one of today's financial Goliaths, perhaps the most known of all of America's money men, a Californian named Charles Schwab.

A set of allegations from an Oregon man who lived with a woman Schwab had been involved with, might possibly indict not just Schwab, but a network of politicians and the FBI as entities that could have taken steps to investigate the case but chose not to.

Peru Earthquake Kills More Than 300, Injures Thousands

The last time a quake of magnitude 7.0 or larger struck Peru was in 2005 when a 7.5 magnitude earthquake rocked Peru's northern jungle, killing four people.

(LIMA, Peru) - peru quakes image An earthquake off the coast of central Peru Wednesday evening with a registered magnitude 7.5 on the Richter Scale, has devastated several Peruvian cities killing at least 337 people in toppled buildings.

A 6.0 aftershock struck at 6:35 AM this morning, 35 miles southwest of Ica, Peru.

The towns of Pisco, Chincha in Peru's southern coastal region are said to be in ruins.

Air Force Pilot Missing From Vietnam War Is Identified

The Lieutenant Colonel was an F4C Phantom pilot lost on a bombing run in 1967.

(HICKAM AFB, Hawaii ) - F-4 Phantom Fighter The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office announced today that the remains of a U.S. serviceman, missing in action from the Vietnam War, have been identified and will be returned to his family for burial with full military honors.

He is Lt. Col. Alton C. Rockett, Jr., U.S. Air Force, of Birmingham, Ala.He will be buried Monday in Arlington National Cemetery near Washington, D.C.

7.5 Earthquake Strikes Peru, West Coast Tsunami Warning Issued

West coast residents should not be in danger of a tsunami, but it may be a good idea to stay off the beach.

(LIMA, Peru) - Downtown Lima, Peru An earthquake off the coast of central Peru Wednesday evening with a registered magnitude 7.5 on the Richter Scale, has left buildings collapsed and people there shaken.

A tsunami warning has been issued that affects Peru, Chile, Ecuador and Colombia.

A tsunami watch has been issued for for Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, Mexico and Honduras. A tsunami advisory has been issued for Hawaii.

PGE Will Repay $20 Million to Ratepayers

Oregon PUC Orders PGE to Sequester $20 Million in Unpaid 2005 Income Taxes for Return to Ratepayers in 2008.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Money trading hands Yesterday, the Oregon Public Utility Commission (OPUC) granted the Application for Deferred Accounting filed nearly two years ago by the Utility Reform Project (URP) and Kenneth Lewis to compel PGE to give back to ratepayers the $20 million in federal and state income taxes PGE charged ratepayers during the last 3 months of 2005 but never paid to the government.

In granting the URP/Lewis application, the OPUC ordered PGE to create a deferred account and place into it the amounts that PGE charged to ratepayers for federal and state income taxes during the nearly 3-month period from October 5, 2005, through the end of 2005.

Brush Fire on Wiseman/Miller Island Still Burning

A Fish and Wildlife biologist at the scene says the fire jumped to another small island within the menagerie of pockets of land that are encompassed by the North Santiam River.

(JEFFERSON, Ore.) - Fire on island near Jefferson, Oregon The fire on Wiseman/Miller Island east of Jefferson continues to burn today, but fire officials say it is is not as intense as it was yesterday when the fire doubled in size.

"The fire is causing smoke in the Jefferson/Marion area, but at the present time the fire does not appear to be threatening any private property," Fire Spokesperson Elaine Parrott said.

Victim Identified in Fatal Estacada Crash

One driver died and a second was transported by Life Flight to a Portland Hospital.

(ESTACADA, Ore.) - Fatal crash investigation artwork Police are investigating a fatal two vehicle crash one mile east of the Estacada High School, at 33601 SE Coupland Road.

Jim Strovink with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office identified the deceased driver's as 72-year old Roberta L. Yates of Estacada.

Fire Consumes California Semi Trailer on Oregon Freeway Near Albany

Nobody was hurt when the trailer erupted in flames. Tangent Firefighter Dennis Weis captured the fire in a dramatic series of photographs.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Burning semi on I-5 in Oregon 8-14-7 by Dennis Weis Fire Departments from Tangent and Albany responded to a semi-trailer fire last night around 8:30 PM. The intense fire ultimately closed the northbound lanes of I-5 just south of Albany at MP 231.

When the 911 call over the truck trailer fire came in to the OSP Dispatch Center in Albany, it was reported that the fire may have started when the trailer's rear tandem brakes overheated.

(GERVAIS, Ore.) - Alfredo De Jesus–Ascencio, suspect in vehicle homicide involving Oregon deputy June 16th, 2007 Police and prosecutors are asking for the public's assistance in locating a Woodburn man wanted on homicide charges related to a June 16th fatal motor vehicle crash on Highway 99E near Gervais.

The two-vehicle crash resulted in the death of two people, Marion County Sheriff's Deputy Kelly Fredenburg and Oscar Oscencio-Amaya.
