Oregon Rep. Darlene Hooley Endorses Clinton

Hooley will serve as a Co-Chair of Rural Americans for Hillary.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Darlene Hooley The Hillary Clinton Campaign today announced the endorsement of Oregon Congresswoman Darlene Hooley and named her a Co-Chair of Rural Americans for Hillary.

“Hillary Clinton is the experienced leader we need to tackle the great challenges facing our nation,” Hooley said.

Hooley was elected to Congress in 1996 and has become a leading advocate for U.S. men and women in uniform.

Weather, Insects Taking it`s Toll on Oregon Douglas Firs

So far, economic impacts on forestry are unknown.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - sick oregon trees Driving through forested regions surrounding Oregon's Willamette and Umpqua Valleys this summer, you may have noticed reddish dead branches, tops or whole dead Douglas fir trees.

These trees may be reflecting physiological stress from the effects of extreme swings in weather over the past year and a half, says Rick Fletcher, forester with the Oregon State University Extension Service.

Some commercial Christmas trees are being affected as well.

Limited Amtrak Service to Resume Today

Normally, Amtrak Cascades consists of four daily round-trips between Portland and Seattle.

(OAKLAND, Calif.) - amtrak train photo A routine mechanical inspection of Talgo railcars used in the operation of Amtrak Cascades trains had resulted in a service suspension for the route in the Pacific Northwest through Sunday.

Amtrak is dispatching substitute railcars to the area, and limited restoration of the suspended service is expected to begin on Monday.

One exception to the Amtrak Cascades suspension on the route is that Amtrak will continue to operate trains 510 and 517 between Seattle and Vancouver, B.C.

The aquarium’s recently acquired stock of bay pipefish yielded a surprise when they discovered one of them was very pregnant – the male fish was, that is.

Five Injured, Three Critically, in Crash Near Wallowa Lake

The five patients were reportedly at Wallowa Lake for a family reunion.

(WALLOWA LAKE, Ore.) - Crash investigation An early Sunday morning single vehicle crash along Highway 351 at Wallowa Lake injured five people Sunday morning. Three are reported to have injuries described as critical.

Oregon State Police Spokesman Lt. Greg Hastings, says deputies from Wallowa County were already on the lookout for the people hurt in the crash. They reportedly had been involved in an altercation at a Joseph-area bar.

Attempt to Flee Deputies Leads to Fatal Crash

The first officers on the scene did not realize the suspect was still in the burning vehicle.

(MYRTLE CREEK, Ore.) - Douglas County, Oregon Sheriff`s Office badge Oregon State Police troopers say they are investigating a fatal traffic crash that happened early Sunday morning as an unidentified adult male driving a stolen pickup attempted to elude a Douglas County Sheriff's car for a short distance southwest of Roseburg.

Lieutenant Gregg Hastings with the state police says the pickup crashed into a creek and caught fire, destroying it and killing the driver.

Woman Dies in Single Car Crash in Oregon City (UPDATED)

Police say alcohol was not a factor, but they believe excessive speed probably was.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - Police lights A witness contacted the Clackamas County Dispatch Center Sunday morning at 9:04 AM to report that a vehicle traveling north on South Eaden Road, had just left the roadway and struck a tree.

Sheriff's Office Spokesman Jim Strovink says deputies responded to discover a single vehicle, fatal crash that occurred at the address of 15751 South Eaden Road, in Oregon City. The location is just south of the intersection of South Eaden Road and Bakersferry Road.

Two people walking their dogs Sunday at 11:00 AM on Highway 30 near milepost 16.5, stumbled upon what they believed was a body while heading up an unmaintained road that intersects Hwy 30.
