The charges stem from the victim being unable to consent to sexual activity due to her age and not due to force.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Melendez Ramos photo Early Thursday morning, police detectives in Salem, Oregon arrested 21-year-old Norman Joel Melendez-Ramos on charges of Rape in the Third Degree.

Melendez-Ramos allegedly met the 15-year-old female victim following the baseball game at Volcanoes Stadium on Tuesday, July 24th.

Melendez-Ramos is a baseball player for the Yakima Bears Baseball team that is currently in Salem for a series of games against the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes.

Melendez-Ramos allegedly met the 15-year-old female victim following the baseball game at Volcanoes Stadium on Tuesday, July 24th.

Salem Man Pleads Guilty to Killing Florence Boatwright

Boatwright was found strangled the day after she celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Darius Pittman photo A 23-year-old Salem man has admitted that he killed a 77-year-old woman while burglarizing her home on November 28th, 2006.

Darius Pittman could spend the rest of his life behind bars after pleading guilty yesterday in the death of Florence Boatwright.

Pittman also pleaded guilty to burglary, stealing a car and meth charges.

Salem Man Pleads Guilty to Advertising Child Pornography

Salem resident's computer held over 4,000 images of child pornography.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - man handcuffed image Christopher Mark Mills, age 37, of Salem, Oregon has been sentenced to 210 months imprisonment following his guilty plea to one count of Advertising Child Pornography.

In August, 2006, FBI agents in Montana and ICE agents in Portland discovered Mills was advertising child pornography on the internet.

Holman Wayside State Park to Close Due to Sex Crimes, Drugs

The closure, which is temporary, was prompted by persistent problems with crime in the small day-use wayside.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - holman park arrests Holman Wayside, five miles west of Salem on Highway 22, will close Thursday morning at 9:00 AM.

Park staff will lock the restroom and place barricades across the parking lot entrance off Doakes Ferry Road.

A bicycle trail between West Salem and Monmouth that passes through the wayside will remain open.
