AARP The Magazine, the world's largest circulation magazine, today unveiled its annual list of the top five places to live in the U.S. with Atlanta, Beacon Hill in Boston, Chandler, Milwaukee and Portland, Oregon nabbing the honors.

The magazine also named the top four places to watch -- Austin, TX; Burlington, VT; Mankato, MN; and Traverse City, MI.

Police Searching for Suspects After Stabbing in Salem

(SALEM, Ore. ) - salem police car Salem police are searching for suspects after a stabbing this morning near Hyacinth St and Portland Road in northeast Salem that sent at least one person to the hospital.

Police and medics responded to the Hyacinth Square Apartments, located at 2540 Hyacinth St NE, around 7:15 AM.

Salem Police Spokesman Lt. Dave Okada says one person has been transported to Salem Hospital with stab wounds to his back. That person's condition is not known at this time Okada said.

Oregon Man Arrested for Death of His Daughter

The driver's daughter, 8-year-old Clarissa Vasquez Caldera, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.

(NYSSA, Ore. ) - fatal crash image A Nyssa-area man was arrested Sunday afternoon on Manslaughter and DUII charges following a single vehicle traffic crash that resulted in the death of his daughter on Highway 201 about one mile south of Nyssa.

At approximately 3:15 PM a 2000 Cadillac Escalade driven by 31-year-old Daniel Cabello Deleon, reportedly from Nyssa, was soutbhound on Highway 201 near milepost 1 entering a left hand curve when it lost control and rolled.

Dog Food, Hot Dog Chili Sauce Botulism Poisoning Warning Expands

Symptoms of botulism poisoning in humans can begin from 6 hours to 2 weeks after eating food that contains the toxin.

(WASHINGTON, D.C. ) - Chili Sauce photo The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is expanding its July 18 warning to consumers.

This expansion is for consumers and pet owners regarding canned food products and dog food produced by Castleberry Food Company of Augusta, Ga., due to the risk of botulinum toxin.

Two people in Texas and two people in Indiana remain seriously ill and hospitalized with botulism poisoning associated with eating Castleberry's Hot Dog Chili Sauce.

Man Critically Injured After Being Hit by Train

Police say alcohol was a factor in the incident.

The investigation found that the man had just left a house in the 2700 block of SE Olsen St.

He had fallen onto the railroad tracks when a northbound Union Pacific freight train hit him.

(BRISBANE, Australia) - steve irwin photo The late "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin, who was killed in a stingray attack last year, is being honored with a new wildlife reserve in the Outback of Australia, the government announced Sunday.

The 333,585 acres of land near Weipa in the far north of Irwin's home state of Queensland includes habitats for the endangered northern quoll, a carnivorous marsupial, and the speartooth shark, as well as an important gallery of dry vine forests.

Fire Damages Salem Apartment

The cause of the fire was determined to be a stove that was left on.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - salem apartment fire The Salem Fire Department responded to an apartment fire at 1291 Peace Street SE Apartment #8 Saturday just before 1:00 PM.

All four of the occupants were not at home at time of the fire.

Two children and the mother had just left for the store prior to the fire starting.
