High-Angle Rescue Near Estacada Leads to Deliverance and Arrest

A man fell almost 200 feet after an embankment collapsed.

(ESTADCADA, Ore.) - Rescue near Estacada, Oregon 6 25 07 by: Emile Burley Rescue teams were called out on a mission near Estacada just before 6:00 PM Monday evening, after a report that a man had fallen from a 90' cliff along the Clackamas River.

Nicholas Harris and Danny Crane of Redmond were negotiating the side of a steep embankment to access the Clackamas River, the earth collapsed beneath their feet.

World Champ Wrestler Benoit and Family Dead, Police Suspect Murder

Chris Benoit was a gifted athlete, believed by many to be one of the best wrestlers of his time.

(ATLANTA, Georgia) - Salem-News.com World Wrestling took a blow today when WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and young son were found dead in their home, and their deaths are being investigated as homicides.

Police say 40-year old Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy, and 7-year old son Daniel were found slain at about 2:30 PM Monday at their Fayette County home near White Water Country Club, but they haven't released more details about the deaths.

Body Discovered at Munsel Lake Northeast of Florence

The victim is 21-year old Weston Schoener of Eugene.

(FLORENCE, Ore.) - Death Investigation art Oregon State Police detectives are investigating the death of a Eugene-area man following a shooting incident Sunday evening at Munsel Lake near Florence. No one has been arrested.

Police say that Sunday at approximately 9:30 PM, a group of four friends had just returned in a small boat to a private dock on Munsel Lake after an evening of fishing and shooting.

Unemployment Benefit Payments in Oregon Going Up

The amounts are set as percentages of the average weekly wage earned by Oregonians.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - employment news image As of the first of July, the amount paid to Oregonians filing for unemployment insurance benefits will increase.

The maximum weekly benefit amount an individual can receive will increase to $463, whilethe minimum amount will be $108.

The change affects new unemployment insurance claims filed with an effective date on or after July 1st.

Still No Sign of California Friends Missing in Oregon

Police are looking for a 2005 Toyota Corolla 4-door sedan, maroon in color, bearing California license plates 5MKN560.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - missing pair photo Portland Police and surrounding agencies are asking for the public's help in locating 52-year-old David Schwartz and 61-year-old Cheryl Gibbs.

The pair, both are long time friends, were last seen traveling together in Portland, Oregon on Thursday, June 7th.

Detectives are requesting that media broadcast a request for all tourist destinations, within the same, "day-trip" distance from Portland, to check their visitor registries or sign-in books, for either Schwartz's or Gibbs' name, on or after June 7th, 2007.
