Higher Gas Won`t Curb Memorial Weekend Travelers in Oregon

Oregon's average price went up in the past week, but since Monday, the average has dropped a tenth of a cent. Not much of a drop but, perhaps, a good sign of things of come.

(SALEM, Ore.) - gas prices As previously forecast, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline hit a new all-time high at $3.09, up more than a nickel in the past week. During the same time period, 19 states set record highs. Oregon's statewide average price went up by less than two cents a gallon to $3.41, and actually lost a tenth of a cent per gallon overnight Monday.

"Average prices in the state's four measured metropolitan areas went up in the past week, but not as rapidly as in previous weeks," said AAA Public Affairs Director Elliott Eki.

YouTube Wants to Meet With U.S. Military Over Web Ban

Feedback from soldiers indicates that they are anything but happy about losing access to the sites, and the list may be longer than the government is admitting.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Tim King and Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski in Afghanistan One video service that is being banned from U.S. government computers is going to fight back. YouTube wants a meeting with the U.S. military over a Web ban announced Monday.

Soldiers say they are not in support of the government ban, they see it as an attempt to reduce the flow of information. One says the government has even clamped down on a soldier's ability to purchase vital equipment, "you can't go onto eBay anymore at some sites across Afghanistan."

Reward Offered in Stayton Burglary and Vehicle Theft

A $1000 reward for anyone with information which leads to an arrest is being offered.

(STAYTON, Ore.) - Police in Stayton are investigating a series of thefts from Karsten Manufacturing. They say that on Sunday, they were notified of a stolen vehicle, Theft, and a Burglary.

The Burglary occurred sometime between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Sunday. During that time someone gained access through a chain link gate and stole a white colored 2003 GMC 1 ton flatbed truck valued at $25,000 with a license plate of T542790.

£100,000 Reward for Information on Missing British Girl in Portugal

Portuguese police have searched 500 apartments, followed up hundreds of leads and interviewed scores of people.

(ALGARVE, Portugal) - Madeleine McCann British 4-year old Madeleine McCann was abducted from her apartment bedroom in Praia da Luz holiday village, Algarve, Portugal, on Thursday, May 3rd, 2007. There is now a £100,000 reward for her safe return.

The Post Chronicle reports that there could be a link between the missing girl and a suspect named Robert Murat. Algarve is situated on the extreme South of Portugal, in southwestern Europe on the Iberian Peninsula.

Police Chase Lands 19-Year Old Suspect From Eugene in Salem Jail

The motorcyclist passed an unmarked police car.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Kawasake Ninja art A 19-year old Eugene resident was cited for Reckless Driving and Felony Attempt to Elude Monday night following an incident four hours earlier in the Salem area that a state trooper says reached speeds near 150 mph.

Troopers say they tracked the motorcycle down and found it concealed behind a resident in Eugene Monday night.

ATF Serves Warrants on Smokeshops in Oregon and Washington

ATF partners with Washington and Oregon state agencies to crackdown on illegal cigarette trafficking.

(SEATTLE, Wash.) - Cigarette being lit Seven Federal search warrants were simultaneously served today throughout the states of Washington and Oregon regarding the illegal trafficking of cigarettes, says Special Agent in Charge Kelvin N. Crenshaw, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

Six of the warrants were at businesses, residences and a warehouse throughout Washington and one secondary warehouse was located in Clackamas, Oregon.

Human Skull Found Near Trail at Multnomah Falls

There is some speculation the remains may be archaeological, but it is impossible to tell until the forensic examination has been conducted.

(MULTNOMAH FALLS, Ore.) - Multnomah Falls, Oregon Hikers found the remains of a human skull while exploring off the main trail near the top of Multnomah Falls Sunday.

A Multnomah County Deputy responded to the location at about 6:30 PM, and secured the scene overnight until the MCSO Detectives unit and the Multnomah County Medical Examiner could investigate in daylight.

Six Cars Crash Sending Five Victims to Area Hospitals

This accident snarled traffic for over two hours.

(AURORA, Ore.) - Aurora Oregon car accident Just before 7:00 AM Tuesday, Aurora Fire Department responded to a car crash in front of Fir Point Farms on S. Arndt Road.

Upon arrival the rescue crews realized they had multiple vehicles and multiple victims.

The crash scene was scattered into two grouping of vehicles. One cluster was a two-vehicle entanglement involving a Chevy Pickup and a Honda SUV. The other was a four-car in-line crash, involving a Ford Focus, a Honda Accord, a Chrysler Voyager, and a Chevy 4X4 Pickup.
