U.S. Coast Guard Announces Record Cocaine Bust

The 14 crew members are being processed for further legal action.

(ALAMEDA, Calif.) - The Coast Guard has offloaded more than 40,000 pounds of cocaine worth an estimated $500 million from cutter Sherman seized by the crew in three busts near Central America in February and March.

The offload will include approximately 38,000 pounds of cocaine seized in the largest cocaine bust in maritime history.

The Ecuadorian-flagged fishing vessel Don Juan K was approached in the Pacific Ocean Feb. 19th off the coast of Mexico while allegedly offloading cocaine into "go-fast" (cigarette-style boat) boats.

Salem Man Pleads Guilty in Child Pornography Case

The man's computer held more than 2,600 images of known child victims, and included torture and sadomasochistic images of child pornography.

(SALEM) - A Salem man has entered a guilty plea before U.S. District Court Judge Ancer L. Haggerty today, on charges of advertising child pornography. The defendant, 28-year old Christopher Mills, admitted he advertised and offered to make his child pornography images available to others by trading the images for similar images.

According to court records, Mills stated that he often was away from his computer while others accessed his file server and traded child pornography in accordance with rules he established for trading such files.

His computer held more than 2,600 images of known child victims, and included torture and sadomasochistic images of child pornography, according to information released by the prosecution.

Inmate Bolts from Oregon Courtroom; Quickly Captured by Police

Deputy Morrisey-O'Donnell was right on Trent's heels in foot pursuit.

(PORTLAND) - While being ordered into custody at the Justice Center Courthouse on Monday, Wayne Michael Trent initially appeared cooperative as MCSO Corrections Deputy Nicole Morrisey-O'Donnell approached him with handcuffs out.

Dep. Morrisey-O'Donnell observed Trent place his hands behind his back reading his body language as cooperative.

Suddenly, without warning, Trent bolted toward the court room door allegedly attempting to escape.

New Information Released About Body Found on Oregon Beach Sunday

OSP troopers investigating the incident continue to check any known missing person reports to develop leads in identifying the body.

(NEWPORT, Ore.) - Oregon State Police and the Lincoln County Medical Examiner are continuing the investigation into Sunday's discovery of an unidentified badly decomposed body on the beach about two miles south of Waldport.

Additional physical information and a photograph of the shoe believed to be worn by the unidentified person is being released to help in attempts to identify the body.

House Moves Closer to Passing State Police Funding Plan

(SALEM) - The Oregon House of Representatives on Monday, approved a Floor vote on HB 3535, the Republican plan to provide dedicated funding to the Oregon State Police.

The bill, with 51 bipartisan House and Senate co-sponsors, assures round-the-clock State Trooper coverage on Oregon’s highways without a tax increase.

HB 3535 dedicates one percent of General Fund revenue to a new Oregon State Police Patrol Division Fund.
