(SALEM) - The City of Salem Public Works Department wants you to Be Aware! of two road construction projects that are set to begin on Tuesday.

From 9:00 AM thru 3:00 PM, Kuebler Boulevard SE, from Commercial Street SE to I-5, will have traffic lanes narrowed.

Oregon Donor Program Launches Online Registry

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Donate Life Northwest (formerly Oregon Donor Program) announced Monday the launch of a statewide online donor registry.

The secure electronic system provides a safe, easy way for individuals to be certain their wishes to become an organ, eye and tissue donor are known and honored.

Currently, nearly 1.5 million Oregonians have “D” marked on their driver’s licenses, indicating their decision to be an organ, eye and tissue donor.

Generous Donation Adds Drug Dog to Oregon State Police

OSP's most experienced drug dog retires.

(SALEM) - Oregon State Police Superintendent Timothy McLain on Monday, announced a generous donor's contribution, in memory of the donor's mother, provided the department another Drug Detection Canine to help in the effort to find illegal drugs along our highways and in our communities.

Assigned to the Patrol Services Division, the new drug dog and handler will be working out of The Dalles Area Command office joining four other drug dogs available to help public safety agencies throughout Oregon, and comes at a time when OSP's most-senior drug dog retired at the end of March.

The China Daily Press reports local police and residents talking about a huge wave that struck the western town of Gizo. Buildings were inundated and widespread destruction was reported.

(SALEM) - The Salem Concert Band will return to the Historic Elsinore Theatre stage on Sunday, May 6th, at 3:00 PM, with conductor Keith Weathers’ annual “In the Steps of Sousa” program.

The program features several works composed by John Philip Sousa, including Nobles of the Mystic Shrine March and Hands Across the Sea March. Composed in 1893, just one year after his first performance with the Sousa Band in 1892, Sousa’s The Last Days of Pompeii is a programmatic suite in three movements, “In the House of Burbo and Stratonice,” “Nydia,” and “The Destruction.”

Keizer Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash on Highway 214

The rider was wearing a protective helmet and was pronounced deceased at the scene. According to DMV records, he did not have a motorcycle endorsement.

(SALEM) - State Police say a Keizer-area man died Sunday afternoon when he failed to negotiate a curve on his motorcycle on Highway 214 about five miles west of Silver Falls State Park and crashed into the front of a Jeep Wrangler.

At this hour, Highway 214 remains restricted to one lane at the scene. OSP troopers say they expect the congestion to continue for about another hour.

(SALEM) - Oregon State Police are on the scene of a fatal traffic crash on Highway 214 about five miles west of Silver Falls State Park.

Investigators say it reportly occurred about 2:45 PM and involves a motorcycle and Jeep Wrangler.

The motorcycle operator died in the crash, while two occupants in the Jeep were not injured.

Six Oregon CAP aircraft participated in the extensive series of responses for assistance involving over 35 people contributing over 300 man hours through the weekend.

(SALEM) - It was all simulated. Nothing really happened. The hypothetical terrorist attack in California was treated as the real thing however by Oregon and California Wings of the Civil Air Patrol who were part of a six state pacific region Homeland Security training exercise this weekend.

The exercise, planned and coordinated with the United States Air Force and the Department of Homeland Security,
tasked the six state pacific region of the CAP including Oregon, Washington, Nevada, California, Hawaii and Alaska,
with a multitude of potential terrorist themed scenarios with the respective wings responding to realistic forcasts of requests from federal and states agencies.

Clackamas County Sheriff`s and Sandy Police Arrest Residential Serial Burglar in Sandy

Police say the Grandparents of Mark Ian Keith were not aware of the criminal activity being conducted and are very cooperative with investigators.

(SANDY, Ore.) - Sandy Police and the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office launched a joint investigative effort Friday, dedicated to tracking a serial burglar believed responsible for committing at least 30 residential burglaries in and around the City of Sandy.

This joint investigative effort resulted in the arrest of 23-year old Mark Ian Keith, according to Detective Jim Strovink with Clackamas County. At the time of his arrest on Friday, Keith was residing with Grandparents at an address on Strawbridge Parkway, in the City of Sandy.
