Drivers Identified in Afternoon Crash on I-5 in Salem

One driver was cited for Driving While Suspended, Careless Driving, and Driving Uninsured.

(SALEM) - Three people were injured Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near milepost 257. Investigators say it happened after one of the vehicles crossed the center median and struck a pickup.

A white Chevrolet Astro van driven by 40-year old Homer Boling of Portland, was northbound on Interstate 5 Thursday at approximately 12:45 PM when, for an unknown reason, it lost control and crossed the raised center median.

(SALEM) - A suspect in two Salem robberies was arrested yesterday about noon in Milwaukee.

38-year old Steven Michael Stroud of Milwaukee, was charged in connection with two robberies that occurred in Salem on February 13th , according to Bill Kohlmeyer with Salem Police.

Stroud is charged with crimes that happened in Salem early that happened early in the morning on the 13th.

Police Seek Information on Escaped Forensic Patient from Oregon State Hospital

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of the patient is asked to call Oregon State Police at 800-452-7888 or a local law enforcement agency.

(SALEM) - A 38-year-old forensic patient was reported on unauthorized leave Wednesday night from Oregon State Hospital after he scaled a fence on the Salem campus.

The patient, Gino Pudlisi, was reported missing at about 8:25 p.m. after he escaped while walking through a fenced area between a gymnasium and an outdoor
exercise area.

Magnitude 5.3 Earthquake Reported off Oregon Coast

A 4.5 magnitude quake hit the same area on Sunday.

(BANDON) - A magnitude 5.3 earthquake rattled off the Oregon coast Wednesday.

The USGS says the quake struck at 2:12 PM, 151 miles WNW of the town of Bandon.

The quake had a depth of 3.7 miles.

Turner Man Dies in Collision With Log Truck

Highway 223 was closed about one hour.

(MONMOUTH) - One person died Wednesday afternoon when the car he was driving crossed the center line on Highway 223 about eight miles south of Monmouth and crashed with a fully loaded log truck.

Eschelon Telecom Opens Salem Customer Service Center

The center will initially add a staff of twenty four associates to the approximately 125 Eschelon employees currently based in Oregon.

(SALEM) - Eschelon Telecom, Inc., a provider of integrated communications services to small and medium sized businesses in the western United States, announced Wednesday that it has opened a customer operations center, located at 3991 Fairview Industrial Dr. SE in Salem.

The center will perform customer service, order processing and billing inquiry functions and serves as a backup to the existing five local sales and customer service offices throughout Oregon.
