Witnesses reported that prior to the traffic crash, the 1989 Buick struck a lamp post in the Spirit Mountain Casino parking lot.
(GRAND RONDE) -
One person died and five people received serious injuries Monday evening after a two-vehicle head-on crash on Highway 18 about four miles east of the Spirit Mountain casino.
This is the second crash at this location in the past two days involving an intoxicated driver crossing over and striking a vehicle in the oncoming lane, seriously injuring the other drivers and passengers.
In the past week, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in the Salem-area fell 5-cents to $ 2.43.
(SALEM) -
During the past week, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline rose three cents to $2.18.
In contrast, Oregon's statewide average dropped a nickel per gallon to $2.42 and Washington's went down almost six cents.
In the past month, the Oregon statewide average price has backed off by more than a quarter a gallon.
Of the four measured Oregon metropolitan areas, average prices in Eugene-Springfield went down by almost 33-cents in the past month.
Oregonians share of the settlement will be determined at a later date.

Attorney General Hardy Myers announced Tuesday a proposed $90 million nationwide settlement for consumers, state purchasers, and others with Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. and Samsung Electronics Company Ltd. (Samsung), with headquarters in Korea and the United States.
Subject to court approval, the settlement agreement will resolve a portion of the pending claims brought by state attorneys general, as well as private class actions, against the world’s largest manufacturers of Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) chips for manipulating prices.
