Popular Mt. Hood Snow Play Area Closed

White River WEST Sno-park is CLOSED due to flood damage.

(SANDY) - Mt Hood National Forest says that because of damage caused by the November flooding, the White River West Sno-Park along Highway 35 can not be opened for winter snow play.

Approximately 8 acres of the snow play area have been washed away by the White River.

About 3 acres of parking have also been eliminated in this recent flood event.

OLCC Offers Tips For Those Serving Liquor at Holiday Parties

The OLCC says you should keep your party alcohol-free at least one hour before party-goers begin to leave.

(SALEM) - The Oregon Liquor Control Commission has a few suggestions for hosts who serve alcoholic beverages during holiday parties at home.

When laying out food and drink for the gathering, remember that about a third of your guests probably won’t be drinking any alcohol, and those who do will need food to go with it.

Popular non-alcohol party drinks include eggnog, lemonade, smoothies, soda/seltzer water, bottled root beer, fruit juices, coffee/lattes, flavored iced tea, bottled water, fresh fruit punches, and, of course, hot chocolate.

Snack food should be of the high-protein variety.

(SALEM) - The Oregon Department of Transportation’s Office of Civil Rights has opened a toll-free, bilingual phone line so that Oregonians interested in highway construction jobs can find out about employment or apprenticeship opportunities with ODOT’s contractors on highway construction projects.

When you call (877) 972-5700, callers will hear a greeting and can leave a message in English or Spanish.

Within 48 hours, they will hear back from a Civil Rights specialist in their location telling them about employment and apprenticeship opportunities in their area and how to get involved.

Oregon Winter Storms and Wave Heights Escalating off Northwest Coast

During typical Oregon winters – which are not affected by El Nino and La Nina events – storms most frequently arrive from the southwest and hit the beaches at a steep angle, pushing sand northward.

Keizer, Dallas Fire Departments Hosting Annual Breakfast With Santa This Weekend

(KEIZER) - The Keizer Volunteer Firefighters Association will hold its annual Breakfast with Santa on Sunday, at the Keizer Fire Station, 661 Chemawa Rd. NE in Keizer.

Hours of the breakfast are 7:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

The Dallas Volunteer Fire Department's annual "Breakfast with Santa" will be held on Saturday, at the fire station, 915 SE Shelton St.

Pancakes, sausage, eggs, coffee and juice will be served from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Malfunctioning Bathroom Ceiling Fan Causes Salem Apartment Fire

Marta Mesa, the tenant had just rented the apartment the night before.

(SALEM) - The Salem Fire Department responded to report of smoke coming from the attic at 3864 Sunnyview Road NE, at 7:24 AM on Friday.

Light smoke was coming out of the eaves and attic vents of the building as firefighters arrived.

A 2nd alarm was called at 7:30 AM bringing additional apparatus and firefighters to the 2-story, 140-unit Stoneridge Apartments apartment building.

TTM Technologies, Inc. Announces Closure of Dallas Facility

(DALLAS) - TTM Technologies, Inc. a leading manufacturer of time-critical and technologically advanced printed circuit boards (PCBs), has announced plans to close its Dallas, Oregon, facility.

TTM intends to transfer PCB production from its Dallas facility to other company sites, primarily in Logan, Utah, and Redmond, Washington.

The Dallas operation, which mainly has produced commercial printed circuit boards, was part of the Tyco Printed Circuit Group business acquired in October 2006.

Festival of Lights Parade Kicks Off Salem Traditions

The Festival of Lights spirit will begin with the Tree Lighting in River Front Park and then the excitement continues for the Festival of Lights Parade.

(SALEM) - Saturday’s Festival of Lights Parade, the largest lighted parade west of the Mississippi, has been enjoyed in Salem since 1989. The once-a-year experience of beautiful twinkling lights, creative floats, and many parade personalities is a tradition for Salem area families. In 1998 Portland General Electric became the title sponsor for the parade and each year the parade seems to be getting bigger and better.

The annual event will begin by the lighting of the Christmas tree at River Front Park at 5 PM this Saturday, December 9th, followed by the parade, which starts at 6:30 PM.
