Oregon Fugitive Located in Washington

He is being held for Oregon authorities by the Chelan County Regional Justice Center

(WENATCHEE, Wash.) - Oregon State Police have received information that a Oregon State Hospital forensic patient who fled from hospital staff late Wednesday afternoon in the Salem area has been located and is detained in Wenatchee, Washington.

23-year old Thaddeus W. Ziemlak was located in Wenatchee, Washington. According to information from Wenatchee Police Department, at about 8:00 PM they responded to the report of an assault near railroad tracks in their city. Upon arrival, they located the victim who was subsequently identified as Ziemlak.

Roseburg Man Caught With 30 Grams of Meth

Smoke-filled car alerted the Trooper to suspect

(WILSONVILLE) - A Roseburg-area man was arrested Thursday afternoon at a rest area south of Wilsonville when an OSP trooper spotted suspected drug activity in the man's pickup and later found nearly 30 grams of methamphetamine concealed inside.

On November 9, 2006 at approximately 3:14 PM, Oregon State Police Senior Trooper Michael Iwai was driving through the Baldock Rest Area on the northbound side of Interstate 5 near milepost 282 when he saw mass smoke inside a 2001 Toyota Tacoma pickup. Senior Trooper Iwai stopped and approached the pickup.

When the man inside rolled down the window, he could smell what was believed to be a chemical odor and saw other indicators of drug activity.

Inside Job Determined in Ag West Burglary

Two of the suspects had been fired within the last month, the third quit on Saturday

(RICKREALL) - When the operators of Ag West showed up for work on Monday morning, November 6th, they found the business was burglarized sometime over night. The Polk County Sheriffs’ Office was immediately notified and began investigating the burglary as a possible “inside” job as a business key was used to unlock the door and the alarm had been turned off with the correct code.

During the investigation, the detectives interviewed current and past employees and ended up arresting four male suspects in connection to this burglary.

Three of the suspects were ex-employees of Ag West.

Run Away Convict Spotted In Washington

An unaware good samaritan may have given the fugitive a ride

(SALEM) - Oregon State Police have received information that a 23-year-old Oregon State Hospital forensic patient who fled from hospital staff late Wednesday afternoon in the Salem area may be in central Washington.

Thaddeus Ziemlak was admitted to the hospital after being found guilty of murder except for insanity following the shooting death of his mother in 2004.

On November 8th, 2006 Ziemlak ran from State Hospital staff at about 4:45 PM while he and a staff member were visiting a store in the 2200 block of Lancaster Drive N.E. in Salem, Oregon.

On November 9th, a man matching his description named "Thad from Salem" was given a ride and dropped off in Klickitat County along Highway 14 near milepost 79.

Coach Dewey Sullivan Has Left The Field

(DAYTON, Ore.) - To the dismay of Pirates everywhere, Dewey Sullivan, the winningest football coach in Oregon prep history, died at 4:30 Wednesday morning in McMinnville.

Dayton High School's coach for 42 years, 71-year old Sullivan was struggling to recover from a September surgery, and had been fighting a losing battle with pneumonia and infection ever since.

Finally, in typical Sullivan fashion, he called the play, and his family cooperated, removing him from life support on Sunday.

Scio Oregon Man Killed By Roadside Bomb in Iraq

A 24-year-old Army tank crewman who grew up in Scio, and Mesa, Arizona, has died in Iraq during combat operations in the Sunni Triangle, the U.S. Department of Defense reported.
Spc. Douglas C. Desjardins (Surprenant) was killed Sunday, November 5th of injuries suffered when a roadside bomb exploded near his Abrams tank in the city of Ar Ramadi.

Attorney General Warns Oregonians of Disaster-Related Scams

(SALEM) - Attorney General Hardy Myers today warned Oregonians of the types of scams to expect in the next few days as flood waters continue to rise and more heavy rains are expected over the weekend. He also alerted residents to the disaster con artists that will arrive after the rains stop and the water starts to recede.

“As courageous volunteers rush to the aid of neighbors and residents of their communities during this week’s flooding, the Oregon Department of Justice would be negligent if it did not warn citizens of con artists, who will attempt to scam those already devastated by personal losses,” Myers said.
