Oregon State Police Superintendent Announces Retirement

Superintendent Ronald C. Ruecker was appointed as the ninth Superintendent of Oregon State Police in December of 1999. Prior to his appointment, Ruecker advanced through the ranks beginning in 1974, and has served as Deputy Superintendent, commander of two of the department's three bureaus, and was director of the Office of Professional Standards.

Man Starts Fire in Salem Oregon Church Amid Congregation of Several Hundred

Investigators are on scene trying to determine exactly what happened.

(SALEM) - A man is in custody tonight for starting a fire inside the People’s Church on Lancaster Drive in Salem, while several hundred people were inside the building.

Marion County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Kevin Rau says the incident started around 7:30 PM. The suspect is accused of hijacking a local yellow cab and placing a knife to the throat of the taxi driver.

Remains Found in Shallow Grave in Linn County

Authorities said the remains so far don’t fit any of the county’s missing persons cases.

(ALBANY) - Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller says a hunter discovered skeletal remains Monday near the Big Springs Snow Park north of the Santiam Junction of Highway 22 and Highway 20.

The remains were found west of the snow park and in a condition that led investigators to believe the body was been in the area for less than one year, Mueller said.
