(Mount Jefferson) - Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller says deputies received a call Friday at 5:30 PM from the wife of an injured climber on Mount Jefferson.

Two Teenage Males Sought in Fire at Ecola State Park

Nearly 50 firefighters are on scene, Ecola Beach parking lots are closed, and police say they are looking for possible arsonists.

(CANNON BEACH) - The Oregon State Police is seeking information to help identify two possible suspects that may be responsible for a fire that local firefighters are attempting to control at Ecola State Park near Cannon Beach.

Lt. Gregg Hastings says at approximately 4:15 PM, a fire was reported on a bluff near the main parking area at Ecola State Park.

State Aid For Out-of-Work Fishermen in Oregon Set to Begin

The state received 360 applications from holders of troll salmon permit holders for the Governor’s Strategic Reserve Funds and is distributing funds to 280 fishers.

(SALEM) - Idled coastal fisherman will begin receiving direct state aid in the next few days, as the state distributes $500,000 of Governor Kulongoski’s Strategic Reserve Fund.

"We’re working hard to help these communities," Governor Kulongoski said. "These out-of-work fisherman need direct aid, not more loans and debt. I hope this help from the state can serve as a bridge to much-needed federal aid, now that our bipartisan effort has led to a declaration of a ‘fishery failure’ from the U.S. Secretary of Commerce."

(SALEM) - Pacific Northwest food processors and the Oregon Department of Agriculture are working on a new program to help get products exported to Japan.

A complex set of regulations issued recently by the Japanese government could potentially make it more difficult to export food and agricultural products because of standards on chemical residues.

With Japan, the number one ag export market for Oregon, that's cause for concern, according to Katy Coba, director of the Oregon Department of Agriculture:

Lake George Fire Near Sisters Grows to Over 5,000 Acres

The lightning-caused fire is being managed by Pacific Northwest Incident Management Team 3 under a joint delegation from the Deschutes National Forest, Willamette National Forest and Oregon Department of Forestry.

(SISTERS) - The Lake George Fire west of Sisters is 20 percent contained and has black end 5,150 acres.

The continued air and ground battle focused on an intense spot east of the main fire front and within a half-mile of still-shut McKenzie Highway, Highway 242.

Crews on the north side focused on spot fires and reinforced a line anchored Tuesday, while, four 20-person crews were brought in by helicopter west of the Cascades crest to establish a "spike camp."

(SALEM) - Corban College has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the eighth-best comprehensive college in the West.

Every year, U.S. News & World Report's America's Best Colleges edition scores colleges on a mix of factors, including reputation among peers, student retention and faculty resources.

Corvallis Police Asking For The Public’s Help in Locating Rape Suspect

Detectives fear Vicente Romero Leon may have more victims.

(CORVALLIS) - Corvallis police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 20-year-old Corvallis resident accused of sexual abusing a 12-year-old girl.

Corvallis police began a sexual assault investigation after encountering Vicente Romero Leon in the company of the 12-year-old female, under suspicious circumstances.

On August 13th, police arrested Leon was arrested and charged with Rape in the Second Degree, a Class B Felony, as a result of the investigation.

Vandals Cause Power Outage in Lebanon Area; BPA Offering $25,000 Reward

Vandals used firearms to shoot out insulators on a Bonneville Power Administration transmission line.

(LEBANON) - The Bonneville Power Administration is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for causing a four-hour outage to Consumers Power Inc.’s Lebanon Substation August 15th.

The vandalism to BPA’s Green Peter-Lebanon 115-kilovolt line occurred in a densely wooded area approximately 11 miles east of Lebanon.

Oregon Guard`s Amber Mann Competes in 2nd Annual Military Idol Competition

(ALBANY) - Sergeant Amber Mann, a soldier with the Oregon Army National Guard recently completed the third round of competition for the Military Idol Competition for the Northwest Region.

Based upon the American Idol Concept, this is the first year National Guard and Reserve soldiers can compete against their active duty counterparts.

YMCA Counselor Saves Busload of Kids

Police say the driver experienced a serious medical problem that led to her death, and the quick-thinking counselor kept the 20 kids on board safe by guiding the bus to the side of the road.

(MEDFORD) - Oregon State Police troopers credit the quick action of a YMCA counselor in preventing serious injuries to several children and other counselors during an incident that ended in the death of a bus driver on Interstate 5 in Medford.

Friday at approximately 9:45 AM, Oregon State Police troopers from the Central Point Area Command Office responded to a reported single vehicle crash southbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 29.
