Woman Was Lucky to Survive Flinn Building Fire in Albany

A person sleeping in the bulding was woken by the smell of smoke.

(ALBANY) - A fire Wednesday morning at approximately 4:30 AM seriously damaged one of Albany’s historic buildings. Fire Spokesperson Wanda Omdahl says Albany Fire crews responded to a smoke investigation at 222 SW First Street.

The call was quickly changed to a second alarm fire. Before it was over, additional assistance came from Corvallis, Tangent, and Adair Fire Departments.

Grant Will Build Bus Shelters For CARTS Riders in Polk County

(SALEM) - Chemeketa Area Regional Transportation (CARTS) bus line riders have a reason to be happy. By next summer, thanks to a $141,000 grant from the Oregon Department of Transportation, 20 bus shelters will be built throughout Marion and Polk counties.

(SALEM) - People who were traveling over Mission Street at the 12th Street Overpass Wednesday morning had a shock when they saw 20-foot flames lapping over the overpass rail.

Police Arrest Salem Man on Murder Charge Stemming From Disappearance

25-year old Leonardo Gonzalez has been arrested for the murder of 24-year old Christopher Lampkin.

(SALEM) - An arrest has been made in the disappearance of Salem resident Markus Lampkin. Police issued an alert on June 21st, seeking information on the location of the 24-year old. His parents say past involvement with meth was probably behind his disappearance.

According to that site, Christopher was last seen at approximately 3:00 PM on Ruge St. in West Salem. He was last seen in a dark green four door sedan.

Salem Fire Continues McMahan`s Investigation (VIDEO)

The building is a complete loss and damage to McMahans was estimated at well over a million dollars.

(SALEM) - Fire investigators have been on scene throughout the day at the McMahans Furniture store fire from last Thursday. Salem Fire Spokesman Bill Holmstrom says information on the cause of the fire is not yet being released, but some answers are known.

Construction crews are staying busy at the building, dealing with every type of construction product that went into McMahans when it was originally built. The list includes asbestos and other hazardous materials.

UPDATE: Power Back On in Corvallis, Philomath, Parts of Albany

Power customers in two counties spent hours in the dark, but reports indicate that all power has been restored.

(CORVALLIS) - More than 42-thousand utility customers in Linn and Benton counties including the cities of Albany, Corvallis and Philomath went hours without power today.

The power went out at about 2:50 PM Wednesday afternoon.

Pacific Power spokeswoman Bekki Witt says the outage was been traced to a transmission substation, where crews repaired the problem.
