Night of Fire is a Dazzling Display of Car Cultures (VIDEO)

(SALEM) - All kinds of hot rods turned out for the Night of Fire Car Show in Salem Friday. The proceeds benefit a small child who is very sick, and the cross section of hot cars that turned out left nothing to be desired.

One of the featured events was a low rider show and exhibition. Something a little off the beaten track for Oregon hot rodders.

Pratum Elementary School Teacher Now Charged With 15 Counts of Sex Abuse

The arrest last year of Pratum Elementary teacher Matthew Gould left the small town east of Salem, in shock and disbelief.

(SALEM) - The Marion County District Attorney`s office has filed ten additional counts of first degree sex abuse against a former Pratum Elementary School teacher.

44-year-old Matthew Gould faces 15 counts of first-degree sex abuse. He was arrested at the school on March 16th on five counts of first-degree sex abuse.

Albany Bus Fares Going Up

Transit fares in Albany have not increased since 2002.

(ALBANY) - Fares for the Albany Transit System and Linn-Benton Loop buses will increase effective Monday, July 3rd. Officials with the city say the need for the fare increase is due to rising operating costs.

Cash fares on the ATS routes will be 75 cents for adults or 50 cents for seniors, persons with disabilities, and youth.

On the Loop, the adult cash fare will be $1.25 with fares for seniors, persons with disabilities, and youth $1.00. Children under age 6 continue to ride free on both transit systems.

Dangerous Man on Parole in Oregon For Rape Flees Authorities

In addition to the Oregon rape conviction, Howard Thomas has a string of convictions in Washington, California and New York for theft, weapons-related charges, receiving stolen property and public lewdness.

(PORTLAND) - An Oregon man on parole for rape is now a fugitive and may be in the San Francisco Bay Area, authorities said Wednesday.

54-year-old Howard Thomas, dumped the electronic ankle bracelet used to track his whereabouts in downtown Portland on June 14th. Thomas has a history of moving up and down the West Coast, and authorities have posted a multi-state warrant for his arrest.

Wyden Blocks Telecom Legislation Over Ineffective Net Neutrality Provision

Senator wants legislation to include stronger safeguards for consumers to prevent discrimination in Internet access and usage.

(Washington D.C.) - U.S. Senator Ron Wyden announced that he has placed a `hold` on major telecommunications legislation recently approved by the Senate Commerce Committee until clear language is included that prevents discrimination in Internet access.

The legislation as currently written does not provide an effective policy on net neutrality, and instead opens the Internet up to large telecommunications companies and cable providers to charge consumers...

Anti-Gay Hate Group Will Protest Funeral of War Hero Thomas Tucker

A law was recently signed into effect by President Bush that bans protests at funerals in national cemeteries, the rule offers no protection for the Tucker family though in Eastern Oregon.

(MADRAS) - The anti-gay hate group from Topeka, Kansas that operates the Website godhatesfags.com, has announced that they will hold a protest at the funeral of Pfc Thomas Tucker of Madras, Oregon this weekend and the funeral of Pfc Kristian Menchaca of Houston, Texas, who was also killed in Iraq.

The group that hails from the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka is headed by the notorious Pastor Fred Phelps. He claims that American soldiers are dying in Iraq because homosexuality is condoned in American homes.

According to the rumor mill, very little proof of that theory exists in Topeka, Kansas.

IMEX Will Invest $5 Million to Upgrade Salem Plant

Governor Kulongoski has led a delegation of Oregon business leaders and state trade officials to Japan to promote Oregon products and encourage investment by Japanese companies in Oregon communities.

(TOKYO, Japan) - Japan`s IMEX corporation, which has manufactured refilled toner and ink cartridges in Salem since 2002, will invest $5 million in its Salem facility to upgrade the plant and expand its operations, Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski announced after meeting with the company president in Tokyo.

`Your company is helping move America in the right direction by encouraging consumers to recycle computer products,` the Governor told IMEX president Akira Kitaoka and top company executives.

`Oregon supports industries like yours` environmentally sustainable companies that help create a cleaner environment and reduce the consumption of fossil fuels. We need to keep computer products out of the landfills, and you`re helping us do that. You`re also helping consumers save money.`

Child Abduction Suspect is no Stranger in Clackamas County

(WILSONVILLE) - A spokesman for the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says their agency is familiar with 19-year old Michael John Allgood who was shot by police in Las Vegas, Nevada after an alleged child abduction attempt Tuesday afternoon at the McCarran Airport.
