"Troops did not recover the bodies until Tuesday because they had to wait until daylight to cordon off the area for an ordnance team for fear it was booby-trapped"... Caldwell said.
(BAGHDAD, Iraq) -
U.S. forces on Tuesday recovered the bodies of two American soldiers reported captured by insurgents last week. An Iraqi defense ministry official said the men were tortured and "killed in a barbaric way."
Al-Qaida Iraq claimed responsibility for killing the soldiers, and said the successor to terror leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi had "slaughtered" them.
The claim was made in a Web statement that could not be authenticated. The language in the statement suggested the men were beheaded.
Prices continue to fall, with crude oil prices bouncing a bit.
(SALEM) -
As the price of crude oil remains below $70 per barrel, consumers enjoy a steady decline in fuel prices. In the past week, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline fell by more than 3-cents; Oregon's statewide average decline was almost a nickel a gallon.
Salem drivers are paying an average of $3.01 for a gallon of regular gas. Average prices in the Eugene-Springfield and the Medford-Ashland metropolitan areas dropped by six-cents per gallon.
For the first time since May 9th, the Portland average price is less than $3 with per gallon prices ranging from $2.84 in Troutdale to as much as $3.08 in other sections of the metro area.

Entries started appearing Sunday in the new Salem Oregon section of the internationally popular online classified ads service, craigslist.org. Prior to the addition of salem.craigslist.org, Salem residents had to place ads under the section for the nearest listed city, Portland, and then put 'Salem' in the specific location field of the ad.

The family of Tom Tucker would like to thank the community of Madras and all of Central Oregon. Especially the people at Brightwood, the school district, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department and the Oregon National Guard.
They want everyone to know that it may seem like they are secluded with the roadblocks and extra security, but, they are very grateful for the outpouring of support, prayers, food and love that the community has shown.
They are watching the news and can see all the support this community and the nation is providing.
