Man From Police Standoff Remains at Large

Police say Todd Nelson, the subject of a SWAT team standoff earlier in the week, is reported to be armed and is considered dangerous.

(SALEM) - A man who was the subject of an hours-long standoff with Salem Police Monday night and early Tuesday morning remains at large. Investigators are hoping that a member of the public may help lead police to the location 41-year old Todd Nelson.

Todd Alan Nelson is described as 6 feet tall, 220 pounds, with brown Hair and blue eyes.

Salem Police Lt. Bill Kolhmeyer says Nelson has warrants for Parole Violation, Delivery of Methamphetamine and Eluding a Police Officer.

Business Alert - Possible Deceptive Business Renewal Notice Mailing

(SALEM) - Secretary of State Bill Bradbury warns all Oregon Businesses to beware of a new business-to-business mailing that looks deceptively like a mailing from the Corporation Division.

A number of businesses report having received an "official looking" invoice entitled: "Assumed Business Name Expiration Notice" informing the business owner that their Assumed Business Name registration is set to expire and requesting a fee of a $125 to renew the registration.

The mailings are from a company called Assumed Business Name Renewal Service, and the invoice lists a return address of 4676 Commercial Street SE, #169, Salem, OR 97302, a UPS Store/mail forwarding business.

Injured Woman May Have Been Removed From Scene of Pedestrian Crash

Police say a couple was witnessed removing debris from the roadway and placing the injured woman in the back seat, but nobody has seen her since.

(KLAMATH FALLS) - Oregon State Police investigators are seeking information related to a report late Tuesday night that an injured female was seen being placed in an unknown white passenger car along Highway 140E near Beatty about 50 miles east of Klamath Falls.

Troopers and detectives who responded to the scene located evidence, including human blood, but has not been able to locate a possible victim to determine her condition and if a crime has been committed.


It happened around 10:20 PM. Oregon State Police responded to a report of a loud noise, similar to someone being hit by a vehicle, on Highway 140E near milepost 40.

Memorial Fund Set-Up For Private First Class Thomas Tucker

(MADRAS) - Private first class Thomas Tucker thrived on adrenaline, whether he was working construction in Oregon or manning checkpoints in Iraq.

Word slowly spread Tuesday that his body and that of a Houston soldier had been found in Iraq. Both were tortured.

On Wednesday, Tucker's father, Wes Tucker, was on N-B-C's Today show. He talked with pride about his son's enthusiasm and devotion to his work.

In one of his last phone calls home, Tucker's mother, Meg Tucker, said on the Today show that she told him to get enough sleep. "He said, 'Mom, I've only been here for five months. These men have been here for a year.' He said, 'I don't mind. I don't mind. I will do my share.'"

100% Occupied; Reed at 96%

(SALEM) - When Attorney Jennifer Perez, John Reed`s Vocational Services and the Wells Fargo Bank signed leases at the Capitol Center this month, an historic milestone was reached: For the first time in more than 25 years, Salem`s tallest office building is 100% occupied.

`It could very well be the only time the building has been completely full,` says Owner Roger Yost, `but our occupancy records only go back to the early 1980s.`

Ted Pikes of Mountain West Jennings, who manages the property for Yost, believes a 96% occupancy in the mid-90s was the highest previous record level for the 40,000 square foot building.

The Capitol Center, an 11-story structure built in 1927 by Thomas A. Livesley to house the First National Bank, was about 31% vacant when Yost purchased the building in April 2003...

Governor Orders Flags to be Flown at Half-Staff in Memory of Oregon Soldier

Flags to be flown at half-staff on Thursday in honor of Specialist Robert L. Jones.

(SALEM) - Governor Kulongoski has ordered all flags at public institutions to be flown at half-staff on Thursday, in memory of 22-year-old Army Specialist Robert L. Jones, of Milwaukie, Oregon.

Specialist Jones was assigned to the Army's 40th Engineer Battalion of Baumholder, Germany. He was killed on June 17, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Ar Ramadi, Iraq. This was the second tour of duty in Iraq for Specialist Jones.

"The loss of this young leader is a tragedy for Oregon," said Governor Kulongoski. "Jones was a very brave soldier and we feel tremendous gratitude for his dedication and sacrifices he and his family have made to keep us safe.
