Services Set for Corporal Jeremy Loveless

(ESTACADA) - Funeral services for Army Corporal Jeremy Loveless will be held on Friday, June 9th, 2006 at 1:00 PM at the Good Shepherd Community Church at 28986 SE Haley Road in Boring, Oregon

Loveless will receive firefighter honors at the funeral and full military honors ar the graveside services to be held at the George Cemetery, 41637 SE George Road in Eastcada, Oregon.

After the service is comcluded, the Estacada Fire Department will lead the funeral procession to the cemetery.

Atkinson Participates in New Orleans Relief Efforts

(NEW ORLEANS, La.) - State Senator Jason Atkinson (R-Central Point) and his wife Stephanie spent the past several days in New Orleans aiding families who continue to struggle in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Atkinson is participating in the outreach effort as part of a national program that recognizes some of America`s top young elected leaders.

"This is one of the greatest civic challenges our country has faced,` Atkinson said. `My heart is forever changed experiencing the devastation of these Americans. I hope the rest of our country continues to rebuild this great city."

Atkinson, who returned to Oregon late Monday, says they stayed busy during their trip visiting with aid groups, touring the hurricane`s devastation and pitching in to help.

Singer-Songwriter Billy Preston Dies at 59

(PHOENIX) - Billy Preston, the exuberant keyboardist who landed dream gigs with the Beatles and the Rolling Stones and enjoyed his own series of hit singles including "Outta Space" and "Nothing From Nothing," died Tuesday at 59.

Preston's longtime manager, Joyce Moore, said Preston had been in a coma since November in a care facility and was taken to a Scottsdale hospital Saturday after his condition deteriorated.

Sprague Students, Staff Relieved After Threatening Notes Appear to be a Hoax (AUDIO)

Principal Cheryl Bower and Salem police are still asking that anyone come forward with information as to who wrote the two notes, you can remain anonymous.

(SALEM) - `The students were AWESOME today!`

That`s what Sprague Principal Cheryl Bower said Tuesday after a calm morning at the high school. Tension and fear were running high following the discovery of two notes on the campus. One note was an apparent `hit list` found last month in a school classroom, that threatened harm to the school on 6-6-06.

Bower said between 20 and 30 percent of students stayed home from school today.

However, most all of the seniors went to class, because Tuesday is senior finals day.
