Young Girl Dies in Rollover Crash South of McMinnville

This is the second fatal crash in the last five days on this stretch of LaFayette Highway, Frederick "Rick" Braun of Forest Grove died Tuesday when a driver turned in front of his Harley Davidson.
(MCMINNVILLE) -
An 11-year old girl died Saturday morning after the vehicle she was a passenger in rolled over on SE La Fayette Highway about five miles south of McMinnville.
Police say a Nissan Quest van driven by the victim's mother, Maria Rios-Andrade, was northbound at milepost 5.5 on SE La Fayette Highway at approximately 8:30 AM.
After coming out of a left hand curve, investigators say Maria Rios-Andrade lost control for an unknown reason and the van rolled, coming to rest upside in the ditch bordering the southbound lane.

10,000 Expected to Attend Rally Monday

Organizers of a pro-immigration rally planned at the state capitol Monday say they expect 10,000 people to attend the event. Local police agencies are working with the groups planning the event and another peaceful demonstration is expected.
The rally happens Monday, May 1st on the capitol grounds along Court Street in Salem. The highly publicized event begins with the rally in front of the Capitol Building at 11:00 AM, followed by a march through some area city streets that is scheduled to begin about 1:30 PM.

Businesses Closing Nationwide for Immigration Rally

The Immigrant Solidarity Network says they are calling for no work, no school, no sales, and no buying nationwide on May 1st.

Businesses throughout the nation will close doors and hang up the closed sign Monday in an effort to show support for immigrants and immigration supporters who will rally and march Monday at the Oregon State Capitol and other American capitol cities.
Still adjusting to the notion of the National Anthem being rewritten to reflect the position of immigrants, many Americans say they do not outwardly support the rally...

Suspected Hit and Run Driver Surrenders to Police

The driver suspected of fleeing the scene of a serious injury traffic crash early Saturday morning on Highway 18 near McMinnville has turned himself in to Oregon State Police.
Juan Olmedo Llamas is accused of driving the car that caused a serious injury hit and run traffic crash occurred on Highway 18 milepost 47. The area of the traffic crash is within the city of McMinnville near the McMinnville Hospital. Police say Llamas fled the scene on foot.

Salem Woman Critically Injured in Friday Night Crash

(WOODBURN) -
A Salem-area woman was critically injured Friday when the car she was riding in lost control and came to rest in a ditch along side Interstate 5 about four miles south of Woodburn.
OSP trooper Doug Brown said just before 9:00 PM, a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Hilario Ortiz Rios, from Salem, swerved to avoid another car that cut him off.
His vehicle left Interstate 5 and came to rest in a ditch along side the freeway.
