Two Albany Men Arrested on Drug Charges

(ALBANY) - The Linn Drug Task Force just before 9:00 AM executed a search warrant at 406 SE 5th Avenue in Albany Friday morning.

Two Albany men were arrested and seized during the search warrant, were packaging material, drug records, drug paraphernalia, scales, and heroin Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller said.

Porn Superstores Doing Well on Oregon Coast

(NEWPORT) - Pornography has turned into a booming business on the Oregon Coast.

Spice Adult Video is the second adult "superstore" to open along Highway 101 in the past year. A third shop, Wayne's Adult World, opened in Astoria in January 2005.

The latest store has already attracted protests and even a counterprotest by teenagers with signs that said "We love porn."

(SALEM) - Salem will learn Monday if it will receive a $60 million grant to build a new Salvation Army Community Center in northeast Salem.

Salem is one of eight western cities vying for a piece of a $375 million bequest by McDonalds`s heiress Joan Kroc.

The Salem community center would include swimming pools, a gymnasium, library, teen center, arts and crafts room, dance and aerobics studio, and a seniors lounge.

(WEST PALM BEACH) - News outlets across the country are reporting that the granddaddy of conservative talk radio has landed behind bars on more drug related charges.

Rush Limbaugh was arrested Friday, on prescription drug charges, with his attorney saying he has reached a deal with prosecutors that will eventually see the charges dismissed if he continues treatment for drug addiction.

Limbaugh reportedly turned himself in after a warrant was issued by the State Attorney's Office, said Teri Barbera, a spokeswoman for the State Attorney's Office.

Parade Route Closes Streets Around Capitol

Streets will be closed for parade route

(SALEM) - A highly publicized rally and march related to immigration issues is planned for today beginning with the rally in front of the Capitol Building at 11:00 AM followed by a march through some area city streets scheduled to begin about 1:30 PM.

Event organizers expect around 10,000 people.

The Salem Police Department, the Oregon State Police and the Marion County Sheriff's Office are working together to ensure the rally is a peaceful expression of people's views on the topic.

STREET CLOSURES:

The City of Salem has granted a parade permit and the following streets are expected to be closed to all traffic between the hours of 11:30 AM and 6:00 PM:

·Court Street NE between Cottage Street NE and 12th Street,
·Winter Street NE between Court Street NE and Chemeketa Street NE,
·Capitol Street NE between Court Street NE and Chemeketa Street NE.

(SALEM) - It's good news for Salem!
The city of Salem has won a $60 million grant to build a new Salvation Army Community Center in northeast Salem.

Salem was one of six cities to share in a $375 million bequest from McDonalds heiress Joan Kroc.

Salem`s community center will be built on nearly 11-acres near the Salem Parkway.

The city is also developing a 21-acre nature park next to the community center site.

Amenities will include: swimming pools, arts and crafts room, a gymnasium, library, dance and aerobics studio, a seniors lounge, and teen center.

The grant provides $30 million for construction and an additional $30 million for operating costs.

McMinnville Prepares for Annual UFO Festival

(MCMINNVILLE) - The McMinnville Downtown Association (MDA) and McMenamins Hotel Oregon once again welcome all UFO believers, aliens, skeptics and the like for the annual UFO parade and UFO Fest.

The event, which celebrates a 1950 UFO citing on a farm just outside of McMinnville, will be held May 19th and 20th, in Historic Downtown McMinnville.

The UFO Parade will make its annual trek down Third Street on Saturday the 20th. The MDA is looking for parade entries to compete in the areas of Best Alien Float, Best Alien Group, and Best Alien Male & Female (who will also be named King & Queen of the parade), and Best Alien Child.

Attorney General Sues EPA for Violating Clean Air Act and Refusing to Act on Global Warming

Oregon's top cop straps on the gloves and steps into the ring, taking on a federal agency charged by Oregon and several other states with not doing its job in enforcing the Clean Air Act.

(SALEM) - Attorney General Hardy Myers sued the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Thursday for failing to adopt strong emission standards to reduce air pollution from new power plants across the nation. Myers was joined in the legal action by Attorneys General from nine states, the District of Columbia and the City of New York.

The Clean Air Act requires that the EPA review and revise emission standards for new pollution sources every eight years to ensure that they protect public health and the environment. On February 27th, 2006, EPA issued revised regulations in accordance with a court order.
