Navy Orders E-A-6-B Prowler Aircraft Grounded for Safety Review

(Pendleton AP) - A Navy jet crashed Friday during a training mission in a remote northeastern corner of Oregon.

Authorities say all four crew members ejected safely, though one member suffered a broken leg.

The E-A-6-B Prowler from the Naval Air Station at Whidbey Island crashed north of Pendleton near the Washington state border.

Keizer Firefighters Climb Stairs for Charity

(Keizer) - A team of seven Firefighters from the Keizer Fire District traveled to Seattle, Washington on Sunday, March 5th, to participate in the 15th Annual Scott Firefighter Stairclimb, a fund raising event for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The stair climb takes place each year at the Columbia Center Building (formerly the Bank of America Tower) in Seattle, Washington. At 788 feet in height, it is the tallest building in Seattle and the second tallest building west of the Mississippi river.

Fire Destroys Polk County Barn

(Pedee) - A fire Thursday night destroyed a barn northeast of Pedee in rural Polk County. Pedee is in logging country a new miles southwest of the city of Dallas.

The fire at 17170 Maple Grove Road was reported just after 8:30 PM, Polk County Fire District No. 1 officials said. A fire spokesman says the fire had already claimed much of the barn upon their arrival.
