Witnesses could not reach the man as he called for help

(Salem) - Lights flashed and sirens wailed again Wednesday, as Salem firefighters responded in full force to a report of a person in their car washed off of River Road South. The call came in at about 1:45 PM.

Wind Gust Causes Tree to Crash Through Roof

(Jefferson) - Jefferson Firefighters were called to 747 N. Sunrise at 8:39 last night where a tree fell on a house. A 60' tree snapped about 20' above ground due to a gust of wind. The tree went through the roof a single-wide mobile home living room.

(Salem) - With 241 children recovered nationwide, including thirteen in Oregon, the first AMBER Alert Awareness Day is commemorated Friday, January 13, 2006, ten years since the abduction and murder of Amber Hagerman in Arlington, Texas. Since the first program was implemented in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, the program has grown into a seamless network of over 100 AMBER plans across the country and has even reached into Canada and parts of England.

Man Missing After Vehicle Goes Into Yaquina River East of Newport

(Newport) - One person is believed to be missing Wednesday after a vehicle was seen driving off Highway 20 about 18 miles east of Newport into the Yaquina River. Witnesses saw a man in the vehicle as it drifted out of sight westbound in the high, fast current. A search of the area by state and county police, local emergency responders, and the U.S. Coast Guard was unsuccessful and has been called off.

Tension Rises With Water as More Rain Falls

(Salem) - More rain, more water, Salem has been getting drenched in recent weeks, and the end is not in sight. Roads all around the mid valley are closed because of flooding river and creek waters. Law enforcement officers like Jim Krieger with the Marion County Sheriff`s Office, say they are becoming increasingly frustrated with people who don`t realize the impact their vehicles have on the roads that are inundated with water.

Winters Praised for Work on Meth and Justice Issues

(Salem) - Senator Jackie Winters (R-Salem) was recently honored for her work to curb the use of methamphetamine and her advocacy of Oregon`s justice system by the Oregon State Bar. The organization`s Board of Governors approved the resolution honoring Winters in December.
