(BROOKLYN) - 84-year old nun, Sr. Megan Rice of New York City. Any courtroom in China or Iran could have been the scene: An 84-year-old Catholic nun in prison garb, chained hand-and-foot and surrounded by heavy Marshals, is shuffled jangling into court.

Her attorney asks if she might be allowed one free hand in order to take notes. The nun has been convicted of high crimes trumped up after her bold political protest embarrassed the state.

For the study, Gettysburgians first recorded barks from small, medium, and large dogs. The collected barks will now be played back to local dogs participating in the research to see how the pooches react to the barks.

OSP Criminal Investigations Division Sex Abuse Investigation Leads to Arrest of Fort Klamath Man

The investigation centered on alleged criminal conduct toward a known female victim when she was less than 12 years of age.

(KLAMATH FALLS) - 58-year old Efren M. Valencia Oregon State Police (OSP) arrested a 58-year old Fort Klamath man Tuesday evening after a warrant was issued for his arrest for Sex Abuse in the First Degree.

On April 1, 2014 at approximately 8:20 p.m., OSP troopers contacted 58-year old Efren M. Valencia at his residence in the 52000 block of Highway 62 and took him into custody.

Human Rights Ambassador welcomed the countries ratified UN Arms Trade Treaty

(WASHINGTON DC) - Salem-News.com Human Rights Ambassador William Nicholas Gomes The ambassadors of 18 countries handed over the documents at a U.N. ceremony on the first anniversary of the General Assembly's adoption of the Arms Trade Treaty, which is aimed at stemming the global illegal weapons trade, estimated at between $60 billion and $85 billion. The new ratifications brings the total number to 31, more than half of the 50 needed for the pact to enter into force.

Five of the world's top 10 arms exporters — Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Spain — turned in their ratification documents at the ceremony.

Deputy Hit By Car While on Traffic Stop

Justin Kinyon, with the Marion County Sheriff's Office, was fortunate to escape serious injury.

(SALEM) - Scene where Marion County deputy was struck "I was sitting in my car filling out a citation and suddenly I was thrown forward." These are the words of Deputy Justin Kinyon who was struck by another vehicle while conducting a traffic stop on Lancaster Dive NE near Glendale Avenue NE at about 1:00 p.m., yesterday.

Deputy Kinyon was pulled to the right in his fully marked patrol car with his emergency lights activated. According to witnesses, Mohammed Ali, age 53, of Salem was driving his Ford, Windstar van in the right hand lane as he approached Deputy Kinyon's traffic stop.
