(PARIS, France) - The 1st session of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) was held in June 2006. Its 21st session took place last month.

Even with its horrendous human rights record, Sri Lanka managed to be a member of the HRC for the first two years but when it stood for re-election in 2008, it was not elected.
