New Pew Poll: Majority Support for Marijuana Legalization

"A majority of Americans support legalizing marijuana, and you're going to start seeing more politicians running toward our movement instead of away from it" - Tom Angell, Marijuana Majority

Marijuana

(WASHINGTON DC) - A new national Pew poll just released shows majority support for legalizing marijuana (52% - 45%).

The poll also shows that 72% of Americans think that federal efforts to enforce marijuana laws cost more than they are worth.

Sixty percent say the feds should not enforce marijuana laws in states that allow legal use.

Many Americans will not be surprised by this news, but a national poll showing these results is very telling of the mood of a nation in mid stride toward new laws that remove criminal sanctions from a natural plant that has has a significant syndicated base of illegal growers whose products are always strongly in demand.

Tom Angell, Chairman of Marijuana Majority in Washington D.C., said in regard to the newly released poll:

"It's time for politicians to catch up to the voters on this issue. Not too long ago, it was widely accepted in political circles that elected officials who wanted to get re-elected needed to act 'tough' on drugs and go out of their way to support the continued criminalization of marijuana. The opposite is quickly becoming true. A majority of Americans support legalizing marijuana, and you're going to start seeing more politicians running toward our movement instead of away from it, just as we've seen happen with marriage equality recently."
