CNN Interviews Author Frank Romano During Global March to Jerusalem

"Let's not make this violent, let's work together, we promise you." - Dr. Frank Romano

(SALEM) - Upon being sent this video clip by a dear friend of Salem-News.com, Dr. Frank Romano in Palestine, I had to write back and say to Frank, "I always hate watching my friends get shot at over there" and I only wish it were the first time. There is a common theme, these friends never back up; they always either hold their ground or advance against the hostile Israeli forces. In this case, the weapon used by Israeli Defence Forces against the unarmed demonstrators appears to be a tear gas canister.

The inclusion of Dr. Romano in this clip is of large importance because he is one of many people who came out for the Global March to Jerusalem in March to to raise a united voice over Israeli occupation and apartheid.

Frank doesn't lead demonstrations against anything however, he demonstrates for peace and unity among people of opposing cultures. His positive approach is designed to appeal to everyone while excluding no one.

Frank Romano had what you could in all fairness, call the most unusual religious educations on record. During his university studies in Paris in his early years, Frank ventured to Morocco to learn about the one religion he had not been able to fully discover: Islam.

Against the advice of his good friends who lived there, he visited a madrasa and quickly fell in with a group of radicals who showed him the beauty of Islam, and then made him a prisoner.

Before he finally, narrowly escaped this place with his life, he would be accused of being an Israeli spy and he was under great threat and intimidation.

This ordeal did not impact Frank Romano in an adverse way, it didn't turn him against Muslim people; he discovered what people who deal in fundamental religious movements often learn, that anything in excess quickly can become dangerous, even deadly.

His book is called, Storm Over Morocco, I have reviewed it in the past and it is fantastic, check the links below for more information about Frank's important work.

Frank Romano & Juliano Mer-Khamis

We all are especially conscious of the danger activists in Palestine face in Palestine as one year ago today, our writer and friend Vittorio Arrigoni was Murdered in Gaza.

This is a sacrifice that should not have taken place, just like the murder that happened shortly before this, of Juliano Mehr Khamis who was a personal friend of Dr. Romano. Half Jewish, but having spent most of his life teaching theater to Palestinian children, Juliano was from Jenin, a ravaged refugee camp in a place synonymous with Biblical stories. There is a link below to Frank's story about him, published last November.

Dr. Frank Romano and Tim King

The video from CNN includes an interview with Dr. Romano as he was leading a demonstration in West Bank in March. The video clip is posted here, however you can also visit Dr. Romano's Website at: frankromano-lt.com -- then clicking on interview links.

In the CNN report, 'March on Jerusalem turns violent' by Senior International Correspondent Matthew Chance, shows Dr. Frank Romano after having what appears to be a tear gas canister lobbed at him, saying, "Let's not make this violent, let's work together, we promise you."

Another recent activity of Frank's included his recent visit to Tunisia in solidarity with the revolution and participation in a sit-in.
